Chuangya Neutral Newbie December 27, 2003 Share December 27, 2003 yup! most probably the (i) reason as spore is a small market to them... got sell or no sell to spore make really no diff. to them... so all those BIGGER market have the priority 1st... ↡ Advertisement
Soya Supersonic December 27, 2003 Share December 27, 2003 But mazda officially calls it the Mazda 3, not M3. The M3 moniker is coined by the motoring press. So even if BMW did register the name, how to stop ppl from referring to a nickname?
Normal_aspirated Clutched December 27, 2003 Share December 27, 2003 As long as MCF don't forbid everyone to use the "M3" acronym for Mazda3, lor. Everyone agree?
Soya Supersonic December 27, 2003 Share December 27, 2003 serious huh? then it would be a good choice....but europe and jap made quality quite different usually. let's cross our fingers......well if in the long term it drops to $73-$74k, it would be very attractive. tink i'll reserve judgement whether it's a good car or not for the price after i actually drive it. given the pre-launch hype vs reality of the mazda 6 (and even the RX8), i've become a bit sceptical abt mazda's claims. Normal_aspirated Clutched December 27, 2003 Share December 27, 2003 (edited) Marketing & sales ppl are super "hyper-active" so they overhype everything juz to sell everything. It is up to the consumer not to be convinced to believe everything. Remember the "boi koh iok" man, and his "everything can cure" medicine. Soya Supersonic December 27, 2003 Share December 27, 2003 Nowadays wif the poor economy, best to exercise Caveat emptor as many businesses are desperately trying to push sales at the expense of brand or business integrity.

Super7 Turbocharged December 27, 2003 Share December 27, 2003 As long as MCF don't forbid everyone to use the "M3" acronym for Mazda3, lor. Everyone agree? hahaha,..... hmmmm..... maybe one day there will be a few M3 owners in MCF.... and they will not have to visit Performance Motor's showroom.... Acemundo Supercharged December 28, 2003 Share December 28, 2003 hehe...understand what you mean....by the way what's your thoughts on ford focus? well, we can take this dicussion offline if you don't want to offend any focus owners? the reason i ask is that i just gotten a car mag from uk.....apparently, they compared the 4 cars, golf, m3, megane and the focus.....the golf was most highly rated although with the price factored in, the choice goes to m3......focus is last of the lot....which really surprises me as I test drove the focus and find the handling amazingly good. Soya Supersonic December 29, 2003 Share December 29, 2003 mazdas generally hv good handling built-in but the NVH really needs to be improved. hopefully the new M3 would've addressed this bugbear. test drove the focus when it was launched in end 99/00. didn't get to do any spirited driving then at ubi (too many L drivers around hogging the roads) to attest it's handling prowness, so can't comment. Buzz Neutral Newbie December 29, 2003 Share December 29, 2003 Well though it lost you have to remember that it is the oldest car of the lot and even the reviewvers say that it is still a good car just that the others up the ante. I think when the new focus is out it will be interesting to see if it can wrestle the crown back
Acemundo Supercharged December 29, 2003 Share December 29, 2003 i am surprised cos isn't the m3 suppose to be on same platform as focus and that both belong to same owners? but the mag seems to paint a huge difference between focus and m3
Acemundo Supercharged December 29, 2003 Share December 29, 2003 true true.....which is why sometimes i wonder whether a dated design really does mean that bad in a car? for high tech equipments like mobile phones and computers, probably a dated model means a whole world of difference. but for cars, i really can't understand why a dated good handling car pales in comparison with newer cars. Chuangya Neutral Newbie December 29, 2003 Share December 29, 2003 yup, it's the same platform but it's the NEW focus platform... even the new Volvo S40 will be using the same NEW platform... M3 is NOT based on current focus platform...
Acemundo Supercharged December 29, 2003 Share December 29, 2003 oh, that's even more surprising.. thot it doesn't make sense to use the new platform on the mazda rather than the ford cos afterall the ford is in the more luxurious segment as compared to mazda......unless of course m3 is meant as guinea pig for new ford focus
Chuangya Neutral Newbie December 29, 2003 Share December 29, 2003 guinea pig or not not sure lah... but the new focus is also going to be launch soon... let's wait and see how the M3 compare to the new focus... i saw some spy photos on the new focus some times back... cannot remember where i saw it... the design look quite similar to the current focus... Buzz Neutral Newbie December 29, 2003 Share December 29, 2003 I think they should not change the look too much. The current one still looks good. Just like the Golf, after so many generation they still retain the same body shape, which to me is not a bad thing ↡ Advertisement
