oic... [blush]

therefore for SUV, a iVTEC CRV would be quite ok right? This would probably be my next car if I can afford it then.... [:)]

Well, some are worse than others I guess. My main complaints relate to dubious business practices such as lack of transparency, hidden costs and empty promises. Not to mention the attitude of many of the salespeople working in the PIs. I went thru quite a few of these PIs before I finally settled on one. This one was not ideal either but one of the better ones I encountered.

Just test drive only lah! [:p] Haven't thought about buying yet. Who knows, after test driving, I may change my min. [;)][laugh][laugh]

Mind sharing your PI experience?

Sorry......just read your last post to Seansene.

Quite a bit of softroader bang for the buck, if you ask me, esp when there aren't too many turbo-ed soft-roaders around right now. Looks somewhat different from whatever we see right now on the road - not a bad attempt for an otherwise conservative marque (locally, anyway.....)

Wonder how a testdrive would feel...... [crazy]

I thought it's quite a bang for the buck too. [sly] The only other one I can think off now is the Sub Forrester but it's a bit lame! [thumbsdown]

Well, if you want SUV with more power, than it will be the Airtrek Turbo-R. [thumbsup] It's a wolf in a sheep skin [shocked]

CRV iVTEC is not too bad, it is a detuned version [:|] of the one that is used in Integra Type R (DC5) [sly] . Both are 2 litres, CRV is around 150 BHP where the Integra Type R is about 220 BHP [thumbsup].

Wonder if the chassis can take all that power... [sweatdrop]

That I don't know. It's like transplanting the Evo 7 GTA's engine, transmission, suspension setup and drivetrain into the Airtrek's body!

It's really a silent killer, yah? Sure kenna smoked even before you can say 'What the f***!'

The air-con vents, that's really familiar. [;)] The Mazda 6 has it too. I remember not too long ago many car mag journalists panned it. Now they say classic Italian styling! How times change. [laugh][/reply]

Yes, a wolf in a sheep skin [shocked] You really don't know what hits you [dizzy]

Looks like the 'classic Italian styling' is going to be the 'standard' in more & more Jap cars [:/]

Then again, does anyone know if the Airtrek is based on the Lancer/Cedia in the first place?? That would make any transplants very easy

The previous Sub Forrester have at least 260 BHP, I think [shocked] , the latest one have been detuned [:/] .

That's how it all starts. With a seemingly innocent test drive... good for you! [thumbsup]

Sure, I'll be happy to share my PI experience. I won't name any PIs here but if anyone's interested just drop me a private email.

1. PI advertised a Honda for sale. Price was $X. When I went down and asked more, they admitted that at $X, the car came without any warranty and that if I wanted warranty, I would have to pay $X + $Y.

2. Negotiated with a PI to buy a Honda. Finally agreed on a price with guaranteed COE. This was before the COE bidding exercise started. PI told me that he would prepare the agreement. I wrote a cheque for the deposit and waited for the PI to tell me when the agreement was ready so that I could give him the cheque. PI never called me. I tried to get the salesman for a few days but he never responded to my calls. The COE bidding exercise ended and the COE went up. Immediately after that the salesman was reacheable and he told me the deal was off as the COE had gone up. If I still wanted it would be at a higher price.

3. Negotiated with another PI to buy a Honda. In exchange he would trade in my old car. PI quoted a price at about 8pm in the evening. When I called to say OK the next morning, the PI withdrew his offer and offered me $5k less for my old car.

4. Agreement to buy car for $X. I wanted to take 70% loan. PI told me to tell the finance company that the purchase price was $X + $Y even though I was only taking 70% loan and not a higher than 70% loan. Threatened not to sell car to me unless I agreed to declare a higher purchase price. Of course I refused.

I have heard many other stories about the business practices of PIs but I think I'll stick to what I myself have experienced. Sheesh. They really make buying a new car very stressful!

That, I don't know! [:/] But I guess it must be close enough for them to do such transplantation.
