Zombie, get the mechanics to use a chassis electronic stethscope. This device

with 6 sensors can easily detect even very faint noise. Great tool, not sure whether

KM has this tool.

Hi, I got this rattling sound too, but it's located at the front right wheel.

It rattles everytime I exceed 2500 rpm.

Sounds like a loose screw or dislodged metallic item.

Revving on neutral gear does not replicate the sound, only when driving off.

My mech removed the wheel and said a loose cotter pin was the problem, but after changing the pin, the rattling sound returned again. Even kicking the right wheel can produce the sound.

Guess I need to re-visit the mech again.

Hmm, could it be a worn wheel bearing? They make vibrational noises and can even cause rattles. For me, the time I suspected my right worn wheel bearing was when I heard this "wooooonnnng" sound entering the car from 50km onwards.

Here's how to check if you're wheel bearings are worn:

- Jack up your car (depending on which wheel bearing you think has suffered)

- Spin the tyre as fast as you can

- Place your hand on the suspension spring.

Do you feel a vibration or coarse feeling on the spring? That's a sign of worn wheel bearings; the vibration passes on to the spring which is translated to sounds in the car. If your wheel bearings are good, you should feel nothing at all when your hand is placed on the suspension spring.

Hi Ace_T,

It's a very simple yet accurate way of checking your wheel bearings.

Mine cost me $80.00 for my last change. Kinda a bit expensive IMO.

With all the right tools, it can be changed in less than 10 mins. Very simple job of jacking the car, unscrewing wheel parts and a bit of hammering here and there for stubborn areas.
