Noises coming from the speakers

Hi,

Recently installed a new power amp and component front speakers while the HU driving the back component speakers at AutoBac. The sound system is fitted with high quality shielded RCA from HU to power amp. Not sure about the cable from CD Changer to HU.

I realised that the new setup is very sensitive to handphone interference. At times the static noise from the handphone reception could be heard from the front component speakers even when the sound system is turned off!!

Occasionally, not sure if i notice correctly, i could heard the high pitch sound of the engine when the car accelerates...BEfore the upgrade i did not hear any of such noises.

Anyone has similar experience?

How to remove this? Will installing HVS helps to clean up the noises in the electrical system?

Welcome to MCF wink.gif

Your 'aeroplane' sound is caused by improper installation due to the cables. Go back to the installer and get them to rectify your problem FOC tongue.gif

I think your amp's grounding is not too good.

Contrary to many audio shops and buff, I think the negative terminal of the amp should be wired directly to the battery instead of the chasis. This optimises the amp's performance and minimises any magnetic flux or intefering frequencies.

As for handphone frequency, I thionk there is nothin you can do about it. Heard that by adding a noise suppressing capacitor should help. Never tried it cause never really had this problem. My phone is placed on the windscreen to the right of the steering wheel.

Hi

I also have the handphone interferance if i place my handphone near the headunit.

Suggest placing the handphone away from the headunit or cables.

cheers

agree with you, grounding the amps directly to the battery should help to optimize their performance, however, running the ground from the batter to the amp will expose the wires to more interference, thus increasing the risk of air-plane noise.

wanted to ground my amps to the battery, got the cables and everything ready, but just too damn lazy, returned all the cables to put the idea till after CNY.

ever considered using shielded power cables?

dunno if this helps [rolleyes]

Yah forgot to mention... shielded cables eliminate the possibility of interference. Also the positive and negative should not be laid side by side to further minimise this.

thanks for the tip

so.... we need 4 cable paths?

1. +ve power cable

2. -ve power cable

3. Interconnect signal cables

4. Speaker cables

Can mix any of these?
