Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 16, 2003 Share December 16, 2003 Quote Quote From what you've described. It seems that you have a wheel lock. Conditions then (wet ground) makes it more likely to happen than dry. When you have a wheel lock, you will lose control of your car. You can't steer and you can't stop and it's mighty scary! I would assume that your car does not have ABS, or else you would have told a different story. First things first. Have your tyres checked and have them changed if needed. Next is how to minimise wheel lock in future. The way to do it is to pump your brakes in rapid succession. This is sort of like creating your own manual ABS. It's like brake and before the wheels has a chance to lock, release brake, and brake again. Just my $0.02. Just to add on ... if u drive a manual , in rainy conditions .... its good to use the drop gear engine brake method to prevent such lockups. Agreed! Problem is, in times of emergency, the mind goes blank and dunno what to do! I guess that's the product of our driving school. Teach enough to pass but not the finer points on how to handle a car properly. I'm all in for drivers going for defensive driving course.

Kiatmobile 1st Gear December 30, 2003 Share December 30, 2003 Hi, I've got the same xperience too like Xhristy too. But it happen the next day after i had a night car wash. I've got the habit to warm up the car before i drive and on that morning, i did the same. I put my gear from parking to drive and release my brake. WHile moving forward, i heard a loud crank. Tot wow, kia lat liao...someone must have play a prank under my tyre and it could be a long nail. So worried and continue to drive from MCP to ground floor. Park one side and check. Nothing happen to tyre....Look further and check underneath, don't seems to have anything happen. But i notice that whenever i was the tyre, the braking seems to screech. Wonder why....? ↡ Advertisement
