Octyman Neutral Newbie July 21, 2002 Share July 21, 2002 Was told by CA that they will not be bringing in the Classic & Elegance Octavia in the future. The Elegance will be replaced by the RS and the Classic ??? . I won't be surprised if they stop importing the current 68bhp Fabias in favor of the 75bhp or 100bhp ones if the transfer price is right. They may even stop importing the manual Octavias for the Ambiente like they did with their VW cars. Doesn't make sense to stock too many variants? I for one would like to see them bringing in the wagons. ↡ Advertisement
Skoda_Man Neutral Newbie July 22, 2002 Share July 22, 2002 hmmm interesting, this is what i think. Elegance - this competes directly with the Passat, and further more SKoda offer the manual version. And much cheaper as well. Think they killing off competition. Classic - Wah lah, this could be a best seller in the CA stable. Big car, nice price. What the hell is wrong with CA????!!!!! RS - Giving the price that CA is setting for the RS, man I will rather go for a lot other cars, S15, Rex (220bhp version), among others. SIOW!!!! Renegade Neutral Newbie July 22, 2002 Share July 22, 2002 Spoke to someone at CA (again) yesterday about the state of the Skoda brand and what they seem to be gunning for, longterm, is the enhanced stature of the marque. And that includes, among other things, making it stand out from Seat (not very difficult there, at the rate things are going on the other end) as well as pushing for increased acceptance and awareness. Maybe even building on the 'snob' value of the car. That, I guess, will include taking on established players in their own turf. Like the Rex's, Evo's and the lot. And, yes, I'm inclined to agree with SM, to reduce competition with C&C, claims that CA is run as a separate company notwithstanding.
Skoda_Man Neutral Newbie July 22, 2002 Share July 22, 2002 (edited) What will be interesting if Skoda is to start building the 4WD WRC version. Now that will be one Skoda car that I will very very interested, but then will wonder how will it be priced with the Evo and STI Scooby. Just too bad that the RS is still a FDW, the Seat Leon Cupra is also FWD??? Edited July 22, 2002 by Skoda_Man
Renegade Neutral Newbie July 22, 2002 Share July 22, 2002 (edited) Yes, I do believe it is - don't recall reading about any Quattro-ed Leon's before and it's got the exact same wheelbase as the 'normal' A3 platform....for it's asking price here in S'pore, I wonder if there's going to be anyone nuts enough to go for it..... Mel4fun Neutral Newbie July 22, 2002 Share July 22, 2002 Quote ......Just too bad that the RS is still a FDW, the Seat Leon Cupra is also FWD??? In fact, the Leon has a AWD version in Europe. It is known as the Cupra 4, and it is based on VAG 4motion drivetrain. It has a VR6 engine mated to a 6-speed shifter. Too bad that it is only available in LHD ...... Octyman Neutral Newbie July 22, 2002 Author Share July 22, 2002 Got another rumour: Heard that C&C just bought the Kodak Building near Ikea. This is to prepare for the launch of the Phaeton. C&C is going more upmarket. Then CA will move in to the current C&C premises as it is really way too small. Imaging how they would fit the superb in there! Image how they would fit the Phaeton in to the current C&C premises. Imaging the Toureg in there. Gosh... The need for space is unimaginable. Now anyone went for the free dent removal? Renegade Neutral Newbie July 22, 2002 Share July 22, 2002 (edited) Phaeton ? Wow....where did you get THAT rumour from ? Anyway, funny thot just crossed my mind - imagine with the sort of marketing CA will be doing for Skoda (plus the lack of the same from the other end), Skoda ends up not only out-selling Seat like in the days of olde, it ends up being accepted as more prestigious here in S'pore..... Fabiaman 1st Gear July 24, 2002 Share July 24, 2002 Whatever CA does, just get the hell air con fixed for me! Went there twice and twice I drove off with the same problem... recently got worst...am considering whetehr to give them a 3rd chance... the thing I am angry is that both things they confirmed its fixed... both times not true! To recap... my air con compressor does not kick in all the time... sometimes I need to switch off and on and off and on to get the air con to start blowing cold air. I am quite bloody pissed! I also had encounter that problem but lately seem okay, seow seow. Go for the 3rd tries, to be fair to them, when you evaluate to see whether they are good or not. I suspect electrical related.
