Hello everybody

Has anyone tried any of the following to reduce heat in the engine bay?

(1) Change the metal exhaust manifold (also known as headers) to ceremics? (Super ex!!)

(2) Use ceremic paint to paint the manifold

(3) Use some form of themal wrap to wrap around the manifold

Cheers

Hi there. I've had my exhaust manifold painted with ceramic paint, up to the cat converter.

Can really feel there's less heat when I open the engine compartment now.java script:%20x()

My only regret is I never put a thermometer in the engine compartment prior to the job.java script:%20x()

So no way of getting hard data. But I get a reading of about 60 deg celcius now.

Frankly, I can't really tell if there's any performance improvement. The car feels just as perky as before the job. But what really impress me is that now, I don't get a blast of hot air in my face when I open the hood. I think this reduction in temperature alone can help prolong the life of the components in the engine compartment.

Hi cool_jazz, mine is not wrapped, but coated with ceramic paint.

Had it done 2 months ago. Brand if I'm not wrong is Black Satin Thermal Barrier Coating.
