78 bucks at Forklift Enterprises. Cheapest around. Can get beach chair also! Nice to use if you when you wait around for your car as it is being serviced [laugh]

Actually if you don't mind, can carry on using RP. When hit 4k, send oil for analysis instead of shelling out money for another oil change. Your car new, right? See the results then if confident with the oil, carry on using. At 6-7k, send for another analysis, still confident, continue until 10k then change [;)] .

So to save money. Set the OCI to 10k [sly] . Spend more money in the beginning so that you can save money later [thumbsup]

At any time when the results show excessive wear, change oil to supposedly better one like SLX. Repeat. Like finding a good wife. [scholar]

Supposingly SLX is also meant to last 10km before next oil change, but I am changing at roughly 7 to 8km?

I have RS in my engine to do the flushing work now ... 50wt ... fuel consumption can be quite [jawdrop][sweatdrop] ... full tank finished in barely 4 days. A total mileage of 380km ran, as compared to my usual 450km.

Not to say it should last 10k. It is the TBN that counts. Total base number. As the oil gets older, it becomes acidic. Also lots of junk gets into it. So it depends on whether you are comfortable with more and more junk getting into the oil.

You can send it to a local representative of Wear Check.

See link below:

http://www.wearcheck.com/contact/global_contact.asp

ALS Chemex does it here.

Charges $60 for an analysis. $80 with TBN (Total Base No.)

Or you can send it via regular mail to Blackstone Labs in the US.

Or get Terry Dyson to give his professional opinion on the results.

Fuel consumption goes up a little for this second tank ... 420km for one full tank. Still on 50wt oil as i had described ...

Hit 6k km ... I may change it to SLX already ... instead of waiting til it hits 10k. Hopefully I can manage 500km and above ... possible?

Someone just informed me in another forum that Shell stations are selling Rotella T Multigrade for $19 for 4L! [jawdrop]

It is damn cheap! BTW, it is a fleet oil just like DMX. Got 10W30 [sly]. Like DMX, RT has soot control and all the things that a HDDEO is supposed to do. Good for any car! Nobody has seen RT Synthetic or Synthetic Blend yet. Should be more expensive. RT got rave reviews by those guys at BITOG forums. In fact, any HDDEO used by the guys at BITOG into their gas engine cars got rave reviews.

I believe not all Shell petrol stations are carrying this oil ... Woodlands Ave 9 [shakehead] Bukit Timah [shakehead] Mandai [shakehead] Boon Lay [shakehead]

That's all I have tried.

I may be interested to buy it and stack it somewhere ... would still prefer to try out Castrol SLX for a start. Still looking for the 30wt onez.

Supercharged

Genie, I am not sure if this is true. But if you send via airmail (or buy oil via airmail), I was told that the aircraft cargo compartment can be very very cold (-35 degrees F) .....and this might change the characteristic of the oil....

It is send oil for analysis. Not buy oil when I said about airmail. The oil is used by the engine already.
