Hi Yttrium, since PM is not working, i 'borrow' this thread to pass the message......

A fren of mine is thinking of selling his RX7:-

Details:-

80's rx7 savana in hand now. asking sgd23k. 8yrs COE left. mechanically sound reliable and needs almost no outlay in mechanical maintenance. It is just a little heavy on fuel consumption (about 8km/l). but if you do not run about everyday too much, then this is a reasonable trade-off for good pick-up, low noise and supersmooth transmission. All it needs now : seats re-upholstery. currently laid up.

rd tax is sgd820/yr, insurance is sgd520/yr (3rd party).

If you are interested, please lemme know and i will double check for you.... smile.gifsmile.gif

but i saw the specs sheet of accord euro r...it onli had 209NM of torque..which is veri low for a 2000cc performance car... [shakehead]

i tink mayb datz y vtec engines have to b rev so high to achieve the optimum performance..which is seriously saying for everyday's life itz just nt practical

If I can make it for the meeting 1 day, I will take you for a spin in a 1.6L ESI, then you no need to wonder so much. heheee...... [:p]

Not stock. Added some scratches and some dust and dirt on the floor mat too. Oh, and I did some kick ass mod on the entertainment system too. Now looking for a nice safe place to hide my PS2. [:p]

well..i dont think its the problem with mivec but rather the engine configuration and how Mitsubishi has tested the power of the engine.

coz i heard they tested the engine without alot of auxillary accessories so the power output was much higher and at many times thats how the Jap has been doing to boost their HP figures.

In europe, the HP of an engine is obtained with all the auxillary accessories included.

Hence....european horses are >> jap ponies... [nod]

icic..heard lotsa rumours saeing that the mivec produce similar hp as civic SIR but in actual fact it onli produces 140hp...which is nt a big deal..

a stock manual SiR does produce only 144bhp, but that is on the wheel....for auto drive, it's slightly less than manual due to transmission loss....so it's quite comparable to MIVEC....

the performance improvement you can do is to reduce weight and increase power to weight ratio.... [nod][thumbsup]

a 1.6L DOHC VTEC 160HP on a 800+kg car would be GREAT!!!!!!!!! [nod][thumbsup][inlove] then you have a power to weight ratio of 200HP/ton [inlove][bounce1][bounce1]

I heard it more of the problem with Mitsubishi cars with MIVEC engines is the auto-gearbox...

manual MIVEC seems OK... [nod]

Most of the Galant VR-M in SGC does not have that INvecs-II Auto gearbox problem. The key leads to less breakdown is to have regular maintenance and use the Mitsubishi SPIII ATF oil(This is what they said). To prolong the life Auto Gear Box, install the ATF cooler.

Quite suprisingly, the Grandis is using the INVecs II Gearbox and the Mivec engine.

Have a nice day!

cheers

sucker!
