Nevermind just asking. I'm considering a change of oil but need to clean the engine. Buying the much lauded Auto-Rx that BITOG forums are talking about. My engine is old so need to prep it up for a change in oil. Currently using dino. Once I get the Auto-Rx, will use it with the fresh oil in the next change. Will take pictures of engine as well.

You need 3oz for every Qt. That is 3oz for every L of oil. If you use up almost the 4L bottle of oil, dump in the whole 12oz of ARX. They recommend using dino oil but syn oil also can. Must have new filter. Instructions are here.

There are special instructions for engines with seal leaks and heavy sludge and oil burning engines.

But Terry Dyson of Dyson UOA have a very extreme treatment for old cars. Instructions are found here. In the end must use Amsoil flush. Siong man! Must drive long long before you can use syn oil.

According to BITOG forummers, if ARX cannot solve your leaks you know your engine is beyond hope and a complete overhaul is needed.

After all these treatments, can use syn oil or continue using dino oil but put 3oz of ARX for in every oil change to maintain cleanliness.

I compared the prices. ARX is the cheapest per bottle. The other mfr are very expensive and BITOG forummers are singing songs about ARX.

I've been reading much in BITOG forums. Many of them say Mobil's synthetic diesel engine oil is also very good for petrol engines [jawdrop]

Delvac 1 5W40 and Delvac Super 1300 15W40 can be used as engine cleaners! Some even use Caltex (Chevron) Delo 400 15W40 as well!

According to them, dump in the diesel engine oil like your normal petrol engine oil. Run around like normal but change oil/filter at the normal interval (5k). Engine will be clean by 2 changes (10k).

Many in the forum applaud the oil's efficacy. According to them, diesel engine oil has many detergents. Much more than petrol engines oil. If your engine is very dirty, by the first change, the oil will become black. As you gone on using the oil, the oil becomes cleaner and cleaner after each change. Some in the forums didn't even bother to use back petrol engine oil! [dizzy] BTW, you can use diesel engine oil in petrol engine but not petrol engine oil in diesel engine.

Fuel consumption might take a hit because the oil is thicker but engine protection is more important. That is because they have temperate climate. With us summer all year round, diesel engine oil is good! [thumbsup]

Getting one bottle for the next change [:)]

I've been using Chemlube on my previous 33 16v for 8yrs (till it scrap), love it, value for money nod.gifnod.gifnod.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif as compare to those 'big' petroluem company, which I boycott unless they lower the price sly.gifsly.gifsly.gif

There's 1 time I use the Chemlube for 1 yrs (almost 24K km) before I change it, no problem at all sly.gifPosted ImagePosted Image
