This is an interesting situation that I suppose happen on singapore roads plenty of times everyday...the pedestrain thinking that the car will and should slow down so they can cross anywhere...the driver getting so frustrated that every few meter down the road...a some pedestrain have put up their very own virtual pesdestrain cossing...

Ha Ha...I'm a neutral party ok...so no offence to anyone...just accessing the mentality of people and the situation out there....

well...I should say a driver is probably at fault if he try to speed up when he see someone crossing the road even illegally...but if he just drive normally within all the legal limit and he knock down someone crossing illegal...he should not be at fault...

sometime i think it's a chicken and egg story...no matter how hard you argue....there always two possible truth.

In my humble opinion...pedestrain please don't try to cross the road dangerously and illegally...driver please don't drive like a few mins late will kill yourself....

On this topic, have any of you tried passing the traffic light between Junction 8 and Bishan bus interchange. Most of the pedestrians just simply walk across regardless of whether it is "red" or "green". I have seen cars literally having to stop even when they have the right of way. [mad]

I have stopped here myself too because you just won't know when one of them is going to take that stupid chance and jump on the road even when the "red" man sign is there. [sweatdrop]

Hi Ravinged,

I believe you know very clearly that you are NOT suppose to cross that road especially when its a slight ben turn to your left(if the car is coming towards Pico Art Ctr).shakehead.gif

Just a short distance, there's a traffic light and why not you make use of that traffic lights than to just walk across that road?nod.gif

Why RISK your life when you can keep them? Its all in your hands.

Ya these are the scary ones. Some of the kids would either suddenly be left behind with tanturms spilling out crying and standing in the middle of the road or would simply dash across the road.

What happens next when the kid is being run down? The parent wants justice, wants the driver to be hanged, wants the whole world to pitty her and give hell to the one 'responsible' for the death of her/his child. But in fact the person that is directly responsible is her/him self. [rifle][rifle][whip][whip]

She was leading the pack, each hand holding a kid. The other two was following behind her, not really hurrying across! Scary! [sweatdrop]

As a pedestrian, I have a close shave yesterday. Around noon a white Mercedes car number license plate SCL 9234* - driven by a male driver - turning right from Hougang Avenue 8 into Upper Serangoon Road failed to keep a proper lookout for pedestrians crossing the road, and almost knocked into me as it turned into Upper Serangoon Road. I was crossing the road and was at the mid-way point when it cut into my path, narrowly missing me by less than 30 cm. The traffic light then was in the pedestrian

Tell you something damn shiok....

Sat I driving thru the road between Jurong East MRT and the cinama...you know there is a traffic light there but like pesdestrian take it that its not there one... [furious]

There was this young couple that adopt the SBC attitude (Simply BohChup) was crossing the street when the light was in the vehicle favour. In front of me was a Police car...when he reach the traffic light...he stop his car right infront of the couple before the complete the crossing and gave them a stare....both of them hurried back to the side where they were walking from....making sure that they were on the other side liao...the police car then moved off...

Laughing my heads off...cos I almost wanted to horn the cops liao for blocking the road....but good that he taught those jay walker a lesson. I can imagine the couple's feeling....must be damn malu !! [thumbsup]

The mother of all farkup is to assume. Never assume that the other party will give way...it applies to both driver and pedestrian. We are playing dual roles....so as drivers...we must know neber to assume...sometime we drive...we tend to overlook certain things. Not that we intentional do it....but sometime it just slip our mind in that critical few seconds. So when we are not behind the wheels...we should take caution when crossing the road.

Sometime ago....a taxi almost know down my whole family when we were making the crossing at Lau Pat Sat....the traffic light was in our favour...my wife was holding my daughter and crossing the road and a taxi came out from the side road and jam brakes and horn at my wife and daughter....another man that was beside them also got a shock. I threw the packet of supper at the taxi and demand that he step down from his vehicle....he sped off instead...but before he left...I gave a size10 foot imprint on his door....farking bxxxxxd. Lucky for him....a couple of secs later...a patrol car came by...if he was a little earlier...I am sure the bxxxxxd would be booked.

Drive and walk safely....just never assume. Cos it makes a ass out of you and me.
