Cy_car Neutral Newbie October 13, 2003 Share October 13, 2003 Hi all, Went down to StamfordTyre sale last week(9-12 Oct) and changed a new set of tyres - Continental CONTI ECO CONTACT CP). Changed all 4 tyres for $232($58/tyre) which was a good deal(imho). Read abt these wheels, as it is supposed fuel-economical as well(from manufacturer). So for those who are into adding fuel additives, HVS, fuel-capsules... this is something to consider). For me, the price was the strongest attraction to change to these. Bottom-line counts most. -> http://www.twt.to/Products/TYRES/continental_main.asp (Click on ECO Contact CP) -> http://www.continental.co.za/products.asp?product=FP644 Calvin ↡ Advertisement

Etnt Turbocharged October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 Just be more careful in the wet, especially with the recent weather. These tires came stock on mine and I just had them changed to yoko es100. Dry is ok, wet is
Assassin Clutched October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 Agreed. Am not particularly fond of these brand of tyres...esp for their handling in the wet.

Cool_jazz Neutral Newbie October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 How about Pirelli P-Zero Nero or Rosso? Quite keen to get good level A or level A+ tyres after my stock ones wears out.
Assassin Clutched October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 These are quite good but ex. They also tend to wear out faster but their their grip is . You can also try Potenza S-03 or Pilot Sports if you are looking for A+ tyres.
Tiger156 Neutral Newbie October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 Did you check the manufacturing date? Not to pour cold water or scare you... 2 of my friends bought tyres from sales without realizing that they were manufactured 2 years ago. 1 of them was driving along ECP when one of the tyres exploded. When I saw the tyres, they appeared to have dry "wrinkles" along the grooves. If they are manufactured in 01 or 02, my advice is DRIVE SLOW!!!!!!! Cool_jazz Neutral Newbie October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 How's the noise? How do I know when to change my stocks or new tyres?
Seaweed 1st Gear October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 Well...I'm a supporter is yokohama A539...it's cheap but very good both dry and wet...but then you must not mind the noise because it's extremely noisy tires...
Cool_jazz Neutral Newbie October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 Actually I mind the noise and will like to have my cake and eat it. i.e. I want a good handling tyre both in the wet and the dry but without excessive noise. Any such tyres?
Toledosun Neutral Newbie October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 I've just changed to the Bridgestone Turanzas GR80s and they should meet your requirements .
Seaweed 1st Gear October 15, 2003 Share October 15, 2003 In humble opinion...I doubt this is possible...when there's grip...there's definitely friction...so noise can be lower but cannot be remove...and there's a limit to how much the noise level can be reduce due to the nature of physics. ↡ Advertisement
