Martmode8850 Neutral Newbie September 27, 2003 Share September 27, 2003 the tyres been run-in... three weeks and here is my review. the tyres compound are hard... so it gets loud especially over the 90km/hr speed. braking distance seems to be shorter. cornering more precise. just yesterday, went on wet day on ECP at 110km/hr... i knew it would aquaplane and it did... just wanted to see by how much... it shifted right by about less than half an inch... quite stable though dangerous. checked to make sure no cars behind me. ↡ Advertisement
Mondeost220 Neutral Newbie September 27, 2003 Share September 27, 2003 heard that this tyre does not have a stiff wall compared to the rest..thus whn cornering hard...the tyre cant withstand it.. i just changed from this to yokohama aspec DB...conti premium contact too noisy for my liking...and it doesnt reali grips well either... and yes it aquaplanes alot..... Assassin Clutched September 27, 2003 Share September 27, 2003 Agree with you on the aquaplaning part for this particular band of tyres. Was on Conti Sport Contact [CSC] before and I skidded down the same car park slope...3 times !!...on 3 separate rainy day conditions. Tyre size was 205/55/16". Pauly75ts Neutral Newbie September 27, 2003 Share September 27, 2003 "i knew it would aquaplane and it did..." Hi! there, MartMode8850, I've just change to 195/55/15, from 195/60/14, last friday. A lot of my friends & my brother told me to use 205/50/15, but I didn't as I'm very concerned about aquaplaning in the rain, as I drive fast in the rain. Last week, when it was raining, the tyres performed very well in the rain, it's the Bridgestone RE711, bought & installed in JB. Since it's a +1 from the previous wheels, I stuck to 195 again, as it won't aquaplane so easily. Improvement all round from the lower profile, especially when zig-zagging in the wet, when overtaking slower traffic, caused by the wet weather. Down side is from the heavy wheels. Positive feedback from the road, less flexing of the side-walls, less twist during launch at standing starts & braking, tracks very well in the rain around the corners, above 120. Aquaplaning would happen when threads are worn, if it's the same as from the previous size. If aquaplaning is a problem for you, stay away from standing water, especially at the sides of the lanes, both inside & outside lane. If you drive in Malaysia, it's not applicable, as there's water everywhere, and it's at least 2in deep, with mud in the mix. Rgds Paul Yong

Assassin Clutched September 28, 2003 Share September 28, 2003 It might be the tyres...or it might be something else. It felt like the car was just going straight even though you were already turning the steering wheel ?

I got an Audi A4 late last year, and it came with the Premium Contact tyres with 15" rims. I drove on the NS highway a lot- the noise is deafening at the Malacca stretch. I know this particular road makes a lot of noise but on these tyres... However, it is quite stable even in the rain, even going over puddles at 110km/h. Usually I don't risk it and brake a little when water starts splashing. I have since switched to 225/40/18 Falken ZE512- bought it because it was quite affordable. I'm surprised at the quietness. I'm not sure about the aquaplanning- felt a bit more nervous the last time I went over the puddle. When new, the tyres were hard- I could only go till 120km/h before the vibration started to make me stop accelerating (thought I made a bad choice). But now after 3 months I could go at 140 and damn stable . Regards Toyotaman
