Savageblitz Neutral Newbie September 22, 2003 Share September 22, 2003 hi guys.. will be getting my new white car soon. wat is the best grooming center for white cars? Going thru the threads in this forum gives me the impression that Zaino is best for dark coloured cars. What about white cars? Also after speaking to some people, they mentioned that Glare is better in handling bird sh*t stains... any comments? thanks! ↡ Advertisement

Assassin Clutched September 22, 2003 Share September 22, 2003 Hi Savageblitz, Welcome to MCF ! Do enjoy your stay here and come along for our weekly meetups. More info in the MEETUPS folder. For more automotive info, do check out the RESOURCES folder and the TIPS & TECHNICAL RESOURCES folder. Firstly, do you intend to send your car for professional grooming or do you intend to DIY polish/wax your car ? For white cars, I would normally go with Autoglymn. You can also try Hi-Glaze88 or Mothers' Sealer & Glaze. For darker cars, I would normaly go for Zaino or Klasse. Cheers

Toledosun Neutral Newbie September 23, 2003 Share September 23, 2003 Hey Savageblitz... you're in luck. I came across a shop yesterday that may have the perfect solution for you. It's called Bronze Carman Pte Ltd, 21 Toh Guan Rd East, #01-20 Toh Guan Centre, S(608609). The guy's name is Russel and his no. is 63163166. I found out about him because I was trying to find a supplier of P21S in S'pore, instead of ordering through the internet. Turned out he carries both klasse and P21S. Anyway, here's my suggestion for you. Use Klasse on your car first. Get multiiple layers on it for protection against rain and bird dropping etc. Once you've done that, you can decide whether you like the shine. If you do, continue with Klasse. If not, switch to P21S. There's lots of write ups about both products so you can check up on them. In case you're wondering about the compatability of both products, I've attached a reply from the customer service of P21S. I was asking in relation to zaino, but both zaino and klasse are polymers so I guess their response can be taken as applying to both. "1. It is hard to say how long P21S Paste Wax will last in Singapore because we do not have experience in that market, but in warm/rainy regions of the USA regions of the USA 4-6 weeks is perhaps a decent estimate. It also depends upon whether the car is garaged. 2. You may apply the P21S over the Zaino without removing it, but we would wait until the Zaino has been on for 2-3 weeks at least. 3. If all you care about is longevity, a polymer product like Zaino will usually beat P21S, but an independent test report recently showed that P21S gives a significanbtly better shine, getting all A grades in the test (initial appearance) against mostly B's for Zaino. 4. The rule about using the cleanser is as follows: After washing the vehicle, do you see swirl marks, water spots or other filming? Run your fingers along the finish. Is it smooth or do you feel impurities in the paint? After this evaluation, decide what to do. Surface looks and feels fine? Skip the Cleanser step. Surface shows problems or feels un-smooth, use the Cleanser. Hope this helps! Kind regards, P21S Customer Service"

Savageblitz Neutral Newbie September 23, 2003 Author Share September 23, 2003 Hi guys.. Thanks for all your responses! The consensus appears to be that for white cars, I should go for Autoglym or Hi-Glaze88 or Mothers' Sealer & Glaze. For dark cars i should go for Zaino or Klasse. As for DIY or going for professional grooming, I am still undecided. My initial preference is to go for professional grooming since its a new car. Would that be a right approach? For you guys who DIY, hows the shine? Is it as good as those professional grooming? Thanks!!
Toledosun Neutral Newbie September 23, 2003 Share September 23, 2003 My suggestion would be as follows: 1) make sure that your car is not polished by the dealer before you collect the car. That's because in many cases, they use machines to polish your car. This may cause circular swirl marks. You can see this on cars, especially at night under the lamp posts. 2) for the first coat at least, go to a professional so that your base coat is applied properly. After that, try to apply at least 5 layers in short intervals to build up the layers to protect your paintwork. In the case of Carworks, which uses zymol products, they suggest their customers go back weekly for seven weeks to build up the wax layer. After that, it's a monthly treatment. I can tell you it works because my two colleagues, whose cars have been with them from day one, have no swirl marks or water spots. Their cars are black and dark blue and look as good as the day they left the showroom (better actually). betweem DIY and professional grooming, guess it depends on which shop you're talking about. You can probably do as good a job as the average grooming centre. However, a very good grooming centre can probably do a better job than you can, simply because they're more meticulous. However, if both are using the same product, shine should be the same. Just one last point, whatever product you use, make sure it doesn't contain any polishing agents or abrasives. Those may be needed for older, oxidised paint but in the case of new paint, you want to protect the clear coat, and not scrub it off! Also, it's harder to "layer" wax with abrasives. Imagaine if 90% of the wax is left after a week and you use a polish which cuts as it waxes. Instead of ending up with 190% when done, you may be left with 150% simply because 40% was scrubbed off by the abrasives. Enjoy!!
Toledosun Neutral Newbie September 23, 2003 Share September 23, 2003 Just a follow up. Seems like my idea of mixing klasse with p21s is not as crazy as it sounds. See thread below. http://www.autopia.ws/articles.php?articleId=
