........

Got a funny incident. Once I was at NSC carpark and I saw a uncle driving a van with a flat tyre. Went to him with my tyre repair kit and offered to help. He said no coz he probably though I was going to take money from him later...haha. Singapore society has come to a stage where everything is about money. I purely wanted to help only.

Just a suggestion.....if wanted to offer something free, always must declare upfront, so that the other party would not have a doubt on your offer.

That is my point bro.

Singapore society has reached a stage where everything is about money.

When I was studying in Canada and my car couldn't start in the dead of winter at a petrol station, a guy came up and help me jumpstart with no obligations. Offered to buy him a drink he also declined. Just help me start and then go off.

In Singapore, when you offer to help, the guy first thing that come to mind is 'eh, this guy will ask me to pay or not?'

Must get a better brand, I got it from autobac for

$30+ serve me well already more then a yr and even can inflate a flat tyre when I patched my puncture twice.

Finally decided to get another 12v portable pump.

Chance upon a unit on sale at Ubi Autobac, happily bought it.

Guess what? So choon one of my tyre flat right at their premise parking lot. Machiam tyre n pump gang up.

Jit tao open new package, plug in and pump my tyre. Great stuff!

1st am happy was it wasn't that noisy.

2nd it has LED pressure reading with pre-set.

3rd, this i really love it. It continue pumping from 60 to 220 kPa non-stop.

Unlike my previous, stop start stop.

Well, counted myself lucky, bought right 12v pump.

Then good things come all at once.

At tyre shop, discovered nail poke to the side wall. Alas had to change, cannot patch. No used tyre. No choice, 1 shot replace 4pcs of tyres.

Haha all started with a puncher.

Mine pump meter analog, so have to use a digital gauge after

Pumping. Still going strong until today noise level abit high but for short moment so bear with it and the pump is continue and didn't cut n start.

Ya if the punctual at the side cannot patch, I Kenna three time but all not at the side get a puncher with 5 worm, now balance 2 more.

IMO it's good to have your own portable air pump. I only fill the tires to the correct pressure in the morning when the tires are cold. By doing this the air pressure in the tires will remain consistent for a good 2-3 months. I also have a TPMS to monitor the tires.

Driving to a nearby petrol kiosk to fill the tires will warm up the air in the tires. By the next morning the air pressure in the tires will drop when it's cold. Waste your effort. Coz many other drivers use the same pump the compressor will heat up(again friction) and when your turn comes you are pumping in hotter air dan surrounding air temperature.

Surrounding air temperature matters when you fill your tires. If you do it in a hot afternoon and if the next morning it rains and is cold the difference in air pressure can be significant. Sometimes some ppl see their tires like deflated overnight.

It's simple science. There's friction between the tires and tarmac when the car is on the move. Friction produces heat which causes the air pressure in the tires to expand. When it's cooled the air pressure contracts.

My air pump I got it at Kah Motor when I was driving my previous Honda Civic FD1. The service center was selling and I bought it from them as previously a portable air pump is not widely sold whether in shops or online. No brand, likely made in China but reliable. Cost me around $75 inclusive of GST. I asked for discount but was disappointed. I dunno whether it's still on sale there that's why I never recommend.

Now you can get any portable air pump anywhere. I dun really think recommendation is needed.
