Jackfoo 1st Gear September 11, 2003 Share September 11, 2003 Goodday people , Need advice from you all, just install an SAFCII on my baby but saw the mechanic is using his experience to fine tune the SAFC by driving round & round in the carpark & made the adjustment. Should i send my baby for a "check up" using Dynameter instead of manually tuning? Please help....SOS Have a nice day ↡ Advertisement
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie September 11, 2003 Share September 11, 2003 IMHO, if you want best results quickly, go for a dyno tuning. That way the adjustments can be made on the air fuel mix and you can get quantified results. Also, it's certainly a whole lot safer to tune like that than on the road or carpark - since they have to rev usually throughout the whole range - meaning the car probably would pick up quite some speed. Paladin Neutral Newbie September 11, 2003 Share September 11, 2003 Cool. How much did u pay for your SAFC II including the butt dyno in carpark by the mechanic?

Modeldriver Neutral Newbie September 13, 2003 Share September 13, 2003 I do mine at Autowerke (11 Playfair Road). Understand there are some others available - AMK has one, believe even Ubi has one too. Ultramax also has - but that place ulu is an understatement. Cost should be in the region of $150 plus I think since you didn't buy things from them. Autowerke does my car for less than that because I did my piggy back with them. Jackfoo 1st Gear September 19, 2003 Author Share September 19, 2003 Goodday Modeldriver & fellow MCF members, Once again need advices from you all; kindly share your experience as i'm totally fresh with this topic(Dyno Tuning) Call up Autowerke to check on the pricing it cost about$180 for the Dyno tuning; McWell charge about $70 & UltraMax about $350. Questions: 1) Why there is a great different in pricing between this 3workshops is it due to different DynoMeter(Brands) being use? 2) Correct me if i'm wrong, the higher charge workshop perform more details/more function tests dyno tuning than the lower charge? 3) With the same Dynometer it is able to tune for different cars (Euro & Japan made cars)or it is specially made for just 1 types of car model/car brand? or the workshops have different software for different cars models. Many thanks in advance..... jack
Modeldriver Neutral Newbie September 20, 2003 Share September 20, 2003 Hiya... I only know the diff btw Autowerke and Ultramax. Autowerke dyno attaches straight onto your drive - i.e. they remove the wheels and attach the dyno. Ultramax does the chassis dyno - no need to remove wheels - your car is chained down. Some say the on wheel is more accurate than chassis, while others say the chassis one is better because it's really what you get when you drive on the road (because heavier rims for example will weigh you down, which Autowerke's dyno won't be able to measure). Didn't know that Mcwell has a dyno - been there enough times - they ain't got a dyno, unless they get someone else to do. But still $70 is pretty cheap. Very suspicious. As for tuning, the dyno can tune any car, only thing is the car must have something to tune with - e.g. the SAFCII must fit your car. The tuning is done by adjusting the air/fuel mix using that device, and running the car, and using the dyno to measure results. That's what the dyno does. It's just to measure HP/torque across the RPM range - but because its a controlled measurement, making tuning adjustments on e.g. the SAFCII you can see the effects on the graph. Hope this clears some doubts. Ain't no expect, just share what I know.
Jackfoo 1st Gear September 20, 2003 Author Share September 20, 2003 Hello Modeldriver, Many thanks for the informations, i think i will go to AutoWerke for my auto tuning for the 1st round. once again thanks.... have a nice weekend

Colinq Neutral Newbie September 20, 2003 Share September 20, 2003 I would suspect that McWell's $70 dyno is done with a GTech Pro?

Wrxblue 1st Gear September 21, 2003 Share September 21, 2003 A dyno test is always best done 'before' and 'after' a mod..to get a relative percentage. the relative results is more accurate as the absolute results doesnt really have any meaning is there is no baseline. as the main purpose of the test is to compare whether the mod has improve or reduce the performance figures of the car rite? ↡ Advertisement
