I tot K&N filter only make from one type of material?? They do have drop-in type for Octy.

Feedback from most pple is that the result are good. thumbsup.gif

For Octy, your can get from Servo around $120+ (with labour) or Speedwork for $95+ (DIY). Price quoted are sometime back, not sure any changes now. sweatdrop.gif

Air filter can be easily DIYed leh, no need to ask our professional mechanics to install lah.

I have the K&Nin my Fabia.. paid abt $87 for it. If you ask me , I can tell no differenec. Psychologically feel better, thats all.

Hi Alan,

Also just drop a K&N filter & iridium spark in my Fabia. Slight pickup. BTW, the installation was done by Mr Loo as introduce by pete (aka C708).

He say our Fabia spark plug location very difficult so the next one he will not volenteer to install any more.

Have to say thanks to C708 for the intro. [thumbsup]

BTW, can chk with the member here what is the best time to change gear? Usually I change gear at 3000rpm? Still not use to changing gear at 4000rpm...becoz engine noise and worry spoilt the car. [:/]

Hi Peter,

He say our Fabia spark plug location very difficult so the next one he will not volenteer to install any more.

My experience, changing sparkplug, requires the allen key.

To access to the plugs require 2 additional steps, disconnect the electrical connector and removing the whole assembly(electronic ignition unit) that attached the four plugs.

I normally change at about 2500 to 3000 rpm. If desperate for faster pick then go above 3000 but less than 5200 rpm.

Actually engine is not noisy when you ram, in fact it give you quite a shiok sound unlike many standard car during the acceleration.

My view

Actually Mr Loo was complaining about a metal plate which was detach fully. Yap the alan key was needed which he find difficulty in turning it back. Also our black plastic cover was also another thing that do not sit properly. Anyway, he say this is the first and the last. Next time he say only the plug! [blush]

Ok...so you are like me change at 3000rpm also [;)]

No problem. Next time u want to change sparkplug, take out plastic cover I can help.

I change gear between 2500 - 3000, more on the lower end.

But if the rpm drop below 1800, then I change to the next lower gear so as not to strain and load(stress) the engine unnecessarily.

Hi,

Have tried K&N filter before in my previous car and it seems there is no improvement or maybe i did not feel any. Fuel comsumption and acceleration does not really improve either although it looks like there's more air that can pass thru the filter than traditional ones.

Thinking of replacing the whole air filter box with aftermarket performace ones that need not replace filters, like the cone type. Anyone has done any before for their Octy?

Cone type will improved on high-end (high speed) but will suffer during low-end, unless you install CAI too.

Not advisable if you do a lot of City driving. shakehead.gif

Hi,

Installed mine at Mcwell, dead expensive @ $138. but they will clean and

grease the filter for you every 10,000 km. So might as well.RPM at idling

is lower, I notice. I think its 25-50 rpm less.

Cheers.

So far never heard the Cone type (aka Open Pod) is illegal. nod.gif

Hmm.. it's VW engine bay. But need to do something for the host leading to lower bumper for cold air. thumbsup.gif

BTW, how much they charge for the Maxflow?

Hi,

I have been recommended too by KW for the MaxFlow when I'm there to look at the armrest. He was saying about $450 plus installation and can boost bhp by 15-20. Dunno how true but wonder anyone has installed MaxFlow from RAID before? He also mentioned someone installed on his VW Golf and pickup has significantly improved.

Any thoughts?

Hi Volk74,

So you have installed the armrest? I was quoted $230 when I'm there 2 weeks ago... [crazy] as compare to the one u given me earlier... anyway, waiting for orders now as he got no more black leather.

I have done the armrest too...agree with skoder that i have one more place to put rubbish...laugh.gif

But I should say that the black PVC (leather) matches very nicely to the internal look. Look as if like original parts.
