My old cars can never pass Vicom inspection. Especially when comes to emission irregardless how I tune the carb. 4 inspections are done on the same day at Vicom and could not pass!

I got fedup and went to STA to test. Spend another $55.?? it pass the inspection with flying colors.

For me, no more inspection in Vicom as my cars will never pass.

I would advise those with window tint not to visit Sin Ming inspection centres.

Try other inspection centres outskirt instead

Which ones are more "lax"? Or depends on the mood of the techs there? [:p]

Curious, which car, what carb model?

(driving injected car now, but still prefer carb for fun of it all)

Dunno why you fail emissions, unless test centre calibration off (demand to see their cal cert! :-P )

Assuming not modded, Toyota carbs are progressive, should not have flat spots (for want of better phrase). Good to find that you finally managed to get a pass.

These inspection centres have 2 group of people to serve. The Authorities - which gives the license for their business. The car owners - which provides them income.

Hence STA and Vicoms (which is listed) etc are all profit making orgns and they are always juggling between these 2 group of people to serve and they gotta do it real well... too relaxed and the Authorities - ie. LTA will be displeased. Too strict and you lose your business if the negative reputation is spreaded.

Rule of thumb, visit newer inspection centres as these centres just started would want to keep their new customers and also be more lenient to attract more bsuiness.
