I'm having VK premium also, like TurboBrick. Indeed the aircon will cool faster. Addition to that, if you park in the sun for short periods, you sure notice the cabin temperature is significantly lower than w/o VK. One personal comment is that if your car is in the sun for a whole day, you can't really tell the difference until you get going.

[:p]

Would really love to go for it if got $$ and at the same time... my car is going to be scrap in Jan 2003.... so no point....

I've HO installed in my car and from the discussion read, it seems HO And VC does not defer much in that both help the car to cool down faster. And when car is parked under the sun for short period, the screening effect will be noticed but should the car be baked under the sun for long period, whether it is VC or HO, both wont serve a purpose. Prior to my installation, tried soliciting feedback from owners and general comment is that both is equally effective. With that in mind and being a practical man, I chose HO because it is the cheaper of the two. Its about a year since the installation and I've no complaint about HO. Juz sharing some thought.....

Think we need an experiment here!! [:)]

Vkool uses a metal oxide film which is no the same as normal tinting film (chemical based). So far no outside source for Vkool film I know [:/]

Where is a good place (in terms of workmanship) to do v-kool?

for certain car models, i understand the front windscreen are done in two pieces due to the screen curvature. it will be side by side (yes?), meaning a "line" in the centre from top to bottom. my question is, how obvious is this line? won't it spoil 'everything' ??

I got my Vkool done by the Science Park fellas, the windscreen is a single piece whereas the rear screen is two pieces joint horizontally at the middle.

Not that noticeable for the rear two piece joints. Not certain about the front windscreen joints though [crazy]

(edited)

pardon me, 15% off for what huh?

shows $1050 for my corolla without the 15% hmm..

oh btw, Vkool users,

HO is ceramic based so won't deteriorate over time, Vkool is metal-oxide? that will oxidize with time?

I think the majority of the cost goes to workmanship. Do you know how difficult it is to apply the film properly? Not something I would try DIY! A little bit of mistake, the whole film is discarded and a new one has to be used! [shocked]

After baking under the hot sun for a while, the cabin heat built-up is intense so there's no diff whether you have the film on or not BUT once you start to circulate the air, the cabin cools down much faster with the film on.

Yeah man, just drive with the windows down for the first stretch, then turn on the air-con! [:)]

Btw VK comes with 5-year warranty, while HO is 7 or 10 yrs...

I believe the price goes to worksmanship and *ahem* warranty. The vk on my car rear windscreen somehow oxidised (after 1 yr) and they replaced all the sheets FOC!

Just an observation, the rubber lining of the driver's window had a cut on it after I installed VK!

So did they replace your rubber lining?
