Twice this week, I've difficulties starting the car ...

The battery is ~2yr 3mths old and had never given me any problem starting. Normally single crank will get the car going. For that 2 occasions, I've to crank 3 times to start the car!

Does that mean that my battery going to die very soon ? [confused]

Don't want to be caught in a situation where I am strandled with a dead battery !

Most batteries lasts about 3 years...so get ready to buy new ones. I added some Jap additives from Autobacs when they used to sell them. It gave me no problems up to 3 yrs even up to sale of car! [thumbsup][thumbsup]

Do you have a voltmeter?....If before starting, the batt is showing at 12V or slightly below 12v, then it is dying soon...nod.gif

Hey Andrew

could be your alternator as well......get it checked out though, if its the batt and if its only 2-3 months old, you should be able to get a replacement for free mah

think the bros all gave you relevant points...

Here's bit of personal experience on a dying/near death battery. Get into car in the morning, turn and there's this 'reluctance' for the starter motor to turn - it's like when you listen to a tape on a walkman with the battery running flat - you get the idea.

If you get that... MAKE SURE YOU DON'T turn off the engine once you start it - drive to your favourite battery shop before turning off. Very high chance the battery is gone.

I had two experiences like above. First time didn't take heed - ended up stuck on East Coast car park as the car wouldn't start again (went there to rollerblade).

Am told that even for a dying battery, usually you can get one LAST engine start if you drive your car daily.

Think it's also known as a power transistor unit...

Not sure if it's a standard feature for cars with distributors....

but normally those don't fail on you while cranking...they tend to fail on you while driving dead.gif

as most of the forumers would say, it's most likely to be the battery. One sure way is to turn on your headlights before u crank.. and if u noticed that the lights are brighter after u crank (and noticeably dimmer while cranking), then it's the battery.

Hmmmm... 2 years of usage, almost there liao..

Had something similar to yours... learned the hard way, but I was lucky, manage to get another car to jump start for me..

FYI, mine was only 1 year 3 months old.

my brother's car battery just "died" at the junction......scary...

think it is better to put a spare one in the car. question is, is it easy to change battery on our own?
