What modern equivalent to ATF Type F or G?

Read in a 244 GL manual (1980 model) which calls for ATF Type F or G.

In today's terms, what is this? Is it equivalent to Dexron IID? Or perhaps equivalent to Dexron IID's predecessor?

Ok, getting close. The manual calls out for "ATF Type F or G" in a number of places, but for the oil for the SU Carb (love those, after my Webers or Dell'ortos!), is spec as "ATF (Dexron IID)".

Since Dexron IID was only specified in 1 place where ATF was needed, it implied to me that ATF Type F or G was not equivalent to Dexron IID at all, hence my confusion.

(I believe Dexron IIID was only introduced late '80s/early 90's, so it is not mentioned in the manual)

So, I'm still a bit confused, albeit less so.

time to call up SM Motors :-)

I believe ATF Type F is similar to Dex IID, not sure about Type G though.

I think SM Motor now stocks only Dex III ATF, may be too slick [crazy]

I can check with the Volvo parts stockist, perhaps they have old stock of the Dex IID ATF.

Ok, but keep it low key, no urgent need for the stuff yet, just checking before it becomes urgent. Thanks.

BTW, I still have about 1-1.5l of Dexron IID leftover (SPC, seems ok).
