Hi! there, Perry,

It'd depends on where you get it from, and what car you are driving. I'm going to get one for spare later from Tanly Motor for the driver's side for a price that it's too embarrassing to post. $10

huh!? only $10???

ca quoted me $250 each for my skoda octavia, rear passenger windows....

hmmm... i'm sending my car to them on friday for a servicing + resolving the power windows problem.... coz it dropped down on monday evening and we went to ca the next morning to have them 'jam' it up for us first.... they took out the faulty piece and its quite a huge piece of 'metal-junk' to me.... hehehe, it's still lying in my boot now...

starting to get worried..... hehehe

Hi! there, Perry,

The difference here, is that I'm driving a car that no-one would touch with a 10 foot pole, not to mention around the corners. Old car has it's advantages. [:)][:)]

Isn't there warranty for your car?

Off I go now to Tanly to collect my regulator, now should I get a spare air-flow meter? [angelic]

well, depends on car make. I was quoted $50 for Nissan Sunny B13/1991 model, $80 for B14/1994, (very common replacement part for Nissan) $90 for Lancer/1992. These are some I have replaced for my friends or relatives before. All come without motor. No chance to change Mazda and Toyota yet.

Hi Karen,

Did Sammo called you on Tues morning? Perry n I were there to have our car window 'jammed up'. We overheard him calling someone abt her car's window regulator also. Seems like it's a common problem...tsk tsk. Anyway, thks for telling us what CA charged u. Think we can bargain with them tomorrow. If they still insist on $250 (excl labour), we'll go somewhere else to have it repaired. Doesnt matter if it's not original VW parts, can work can already.

hi there,

er.....ha ha....not very sure am i the one he called that day....but to me i think when they say $250...the parts and labour is inc...as for me, sometime is better to pay a bit more than to sent my car to some outside workshop, (unless you know what they are doing to your car) one case i can share is there's once i sent my car to a outside workshop to change the engine oil, (that's when JTA close down) but what happen is that the mech there (the workshop is somewhere at sin ming road) told me that my car is leaking engine oil.....and told me that i need to over haul the engine....well as something tell me something is not right somewhere, i call up VW...that's how i got to know sam, well, to cut the story short he asked me to sent the car to VW and he bring up the car to chk for me is there any leak....thk god....lately he told me there is no leak after the chk....and you know what??? he did not say what the mech at sin ming is up to, but i think that guy at sin ming is up to no good...and from there i never look at any outside workshop...why? cos you can think you pay less for something at a o/side workshop. but do you know what short cut they take? do you know when they tell u the replace something, is that something replaced? or is that parts a OEM part??? that's why i sent my oldman car back to komoco and paid a good $800 just for a a/c service.....whatever is it, i don't to loss sleep b'cos i sent my car to someone that not from the oem dealer after that visit to sin ming workshop....take my 2 cent advice, unless u know what is going on. if not better be careful.... PS don't worry try to talk to sam again (should say he is nice and funny guy) ...i think u can ask him to try to cut you a better deal on that reg....good luck and god bless [:)][laugh][sly]

For that kind of prices they are charging you, they ought to be nice, patient with you.

For me, I always prefer outside workshop cause I never like agent workshop, reasons,

1. Expensive like hell

2. Take car owners like suckers

3. Any minor problem, everything change (This I cannot blame them, cause they MUST make sure the car is in good condition when it leaves the workshop).

4. A simple oil change takes like half a day, 80% of the time the car is just lying in the workshop (yeah right, tell me they are THAT busy).

5. HIGH labour cost, true they need to survive, but the electronics checks they conduct, don't even know if it's help. Cause I understand that it will only shown as a 'Fault' when the device fails completely. Else it will shows okay. By the time it fails, you would have notice something is not right, no need some fancy gadget to tell you.

Finally, for the benefit of my wallet, I think I will turn away from agent workshop, unless they provide me with lifetime (which is like just 10 yrs) of free labour charges :P

well, just to keep the rest informed and share some info around amongst ourselves...

i have replaced my regulators also. same price quoted for me (parts and labour).

then i also received a bag of goodwill freebies from ca. consists of a t-shirt, a pen, and some air-fresher-cards from skoda.

we also chatted with their sales staff. according to them, there will be a road-show on the 7th july at marina (tentative), where they will have 1 octavia and 1 fabia 'dressed-up' ...

that's all:)
