Seven11 Neutral Newbie December 31, 2001 Share December 31, 2001 How often is it recommended to service our air con? I was told annually? I thouhght that is too much since I would believe the air con is rather trouble free for at least 2 years? Guys, try out Motornic Co. at AMK Ind Park 1, Blk 4016, AMK Ave 10 #01-544. Turbobrick Neutral Newbie December 31, 2001 Author Share December 31, 2001 If the aircon system is functioning well, U probably need to wash the evap core every 2 years and check freon levels. My car has not gone for a freon (R134a) topup in 3years! Only added compressor lube into the A/C system twice so far. There's another shop that's pretty good in A/C but in JB, opp THE STORE in Sentosa. The shop is TY Aircon and is situation in the middle of a T-Junction. Lomaikai Neutral Newbie January 1, 2002 Share January 1, 2002 Hmmm... for me , I have this principle on air con: " If its aint broken, dont fix it!" ie. service only when the air from the vent is no longer cold. I guess the one who told you to service every year is the air-con man?
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie January 1, 2002 Author Share January 1, 2002 No lar, read from the Motoring Mag about maintenance of A/C system and the annual servicing is like checking and maintaining recommended. I like to "catch it before it breaks or start breaking other things"
Sky8807 1st Gear January 1, 2002 Share January 1, 2002 Hi Lomaikai, Your principle is right and sound. I had an encounter b4 which support your principle. It was my 323. The air-con was working perfectly ok. So when I sent my car for service, about 1.5 years old, thought give the air-con a service and clean the evaporater as well. Know what, from $65 labour for the job becomes >$350. When they test for leak after cleaning, found one tiny tiny hole. So workshop ask me how, bo pian, knowing it, replaced lor. Now, if air-con no problem, don't find trouble. Anyway, by the time you reached abt 3 to 5 years, air-con system will disturbed you and you don't have to disturbed them. Happy New Year everybody. ↡ Advertisement
