steveting99 2nd Gear March 5 Share March 5 GAC's sub-brand Aion has just released their electric SUV into the Singapore market called the Aion V. It's a Cat A vehicle (save some $$)! The Aion V comes with a panoramic sunroof and retractable sunshade. Great for sunny places like Singapore and much better than those that do no have an electric shade. The electric driver and front passenger seats come with three memory settings. The front seats have heating as well as ventilation and comes with massage function! Gear shift is located at the column steering wheel to free up space at the center console. Driver's side display is 8.8" (looks a bit cramped and busy with all the information). Wish there was a Heads Up Display (HUD) to make it a bit more premium feel. The infotainment unit is sized at 14.6". Standard 360 deg camera with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) up to Level 2 is there. At the back there's a fridge! The fridge volume is around 6.6L and can warm up (+50 deg) as well as cool down (-15 deg). There's also fold down table tray with air vents at the B-pillars! How cool are these features? Rear boot space is a little over 400L and with the rear seats up and the volume grows to about 1,000L when the rear seats are folded down. Rear seats can recline down to 137 degree. Front seats can also fold down flat and with the right air mattress - one can go glamping in the Aion V. Aion V vehicle dimensions are: 4,605 mm long x 1,876 mm wide x 1,686 mm tall. Wheel base is 2,775 mm. Electric motor power output is 100kW - to comply with Cat A requirements, with a max torque output is 240Nm. Will do the century sprint in under 10 seconds. Claimed energy consumption is 14.1 kWh/100 km and with the 75.3kWhr of useable capacity LFP battery can do around 480km WLTP range in a single charge. Assuming 70% Sate of Health (SoH) after 3,000 cycles, that 75.3kWhr battery is good for 1 million kms! One will have to drive 50,400km/year for the next 20 years to exhaust the LFP battery. The Aion V has Vehicle to Load (V2L) capacity of 3.3kW. Can do DC fast charging of 150kW and add 300km of driving range in 15 minutes. Standard manufacturer's warranty is 8 years or 160,000km for the vehicle. The battery is 8 years or 200,000kms. The Authorized Dealer is Vincar EV. Retail price is $175k. ↡ Advertisement

steveting99 2nd Gear March 7 Author Share March 7 Attached is a pic of the front seats folded flat down. Saw a youtube review of the Aion V showing a spare tire underneath the back storage. This is rare in BEV as glue kit is normally provided for flat tire.

steveting99 2nd Gear March 22 Author Share March 22 Was watching a YouTube video of the Aion V. The reviewer demonstrated the auto opening of the boot after three seconds with the key fob in his pocket. This will useful to those shopping trips where both arms are full of gear. The wife is going to like this feature. The wireless phone charging comes with cooling. Comes with space saver spare tire in the boot!
Lethalstrike Turbocharged March 23 Share March 23 Many Chinese car media simply says the selling point or gimmicks of Chinese EVs nowadays are "冰箱,彩电, 大沙发“ 😁 In English terms, it literally means fridge, colour TV (ie big touchscreens everywhere) and big sofa (aka zero gravity seats, recline 180 degree, captain seats bla bla). And we see all of these in this Aion V and many other Chinese EVs.
125Pegasus Clutched March 23 Share March 23 (edited) Dont think anyone in this tread is interested in the car. General perception of the looks are rather negative. Most Sg peeps are rather brand consious and not au fait with china brands yet. The fact that AION is very much perceived as an Didi brand adds to the negative sentiments of the cars. Further exacerbated by the fact that GAC AION carries the cheapest EV in SG, the ES (and AION Y Plus was also pretty afforardable category). Having said all these, I was EV hunting for a while since 2023. Went though most EV options(within my budget) such as Tesla model 3(highland) and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Recently was attracted by Sealion and Deepal S07 too. Finally went and bought the AION V. Just wanted to do some sharing on why i decided to get it, for people considering not so mainstream EVs. Looks Definately not mainsteam enough or good looking. Most people like sporty/aggressive/sharp looking ones. Me too but i do like boxy designs too. My other consideration was Jaecoo J6 but its rather small in size. Looks are subjective but impt to sell cars. So at least i know this will not be everywhere. Size I think its most bang for buck if u consider Cat A COE w this size. Currently, not much options (maybe except BYD M6) or Ioniq 5. Most large 4.6/4.7m long EV SUVs are Cat B and cost about 30k more. Price Arguablely the price is not so bang for buck if u compare directly to the tier of pricing in China. Objectively, you need to understand that SG is full taxes and the varient in SG is the slightly higher spec one, with fridge, massage chair and auto tailgate etc. China is super competitive and there are many varients without all this. Not to mention all those EV rebates that gov give. This car can be dirt cheap there. But in Sg i think its not too bad for my needs. Equipment Equipment is the key when i looked at this car. Of course, we do not have the L5 lidar sensor(which i wish for). The rest of the functions like the fridge, rear seat recline, B pillar aircon and front massge are what attracted me. I think only more exp varients in other brands comes w these. Drive comfort I think this is the biggest draw for me. This car has 1 of the most comfortable seats in its class. The ride was quick enough. No longer young and need to ferry kids so driving fast is nv the goal for me now. Was driving a Forester XT and i find it comparable for the torque. Ultimately, its not a flashy car but something for those who wants funtionality. I do think GAC is rather reputable and w recent toyota BZ3X launch, it should be a rather reliable platform. Hope to see some owners around. Edited March 23 by 125Pegasus
steveting99 2nd Gear March 24 Author Share March 24 (edited) @125Pegasus congrats on getting your new ride with the Aion V! How's the user interface like? According to this news release the Aion V is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155p SOC: https://www.media-outreach.com/news/singapore/2025/02/28/363946/gac-aion-unveils-the-aion-v-redefining-electric-mobility-with-advanced-technology-and-design/#:~:text=Equipped with the Snapdragon 8155P,for enhanced safety and convenience. It's Qualcomm's 3rd generation automotive processor. The same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (8155p) that's used on Xpeng's G6, BYD's Sealion 7 and Leapmotor's C10 vehicles. Got confused as there's media release saying Aion V's processor on the international version (Made in Thailand) is powered by Nvidia's Orin-X chip here: https://theevreport.com/aion-v-global-electric-suv-launch. So not sure what processor has provided for in the SG version? Edited March 24 by steveting99 typo

125Pegasus Clutched March 24 Share March 24 @steveting99 The local version is using 8155P. For Orin-X its only for the lidar sensor w level 5 autonomous driving in China. Sadly we wont be getting that here. Anyway my ride is not ready for collection yet. Just gotten COE n still waiting... @Lala81Thanks. Hope to see some owners around. Awesome review, bro. I was driving a Subaru Levorg and what attracted me to the V is the boxy shape, non-EV-copy design and you know what? I thought it looked like my older Subaru Forester in the side profile. I have done an extended test drive before I signed on the dotted line. The AION V is the smoothest driving Cat A EV SUV that I have tried. I am off to work. Will share more on what I liked about the AION V later - especially the silicon carbide inverter ! Cheers! ↡ Advertisement
