Yup. All gimmicks. The grid can't support so many fast chargers without massive upgrades.

Or going to certain niche locations for speciality chargers.

With 800v archi, less current is required for the same wattage.

It keep the battery cool during charging.

For NSHW drive, you need these fast charger.

For local drive, it is waste of money.

As long as the charger is not hogged by a slow charging car.

For ICE car, the range added is 700km with the same time taken.

You will be surprised that many DC chargers in Singapore which states 150kW capable only has a current supply of up to 200A, which means if you have an EV which runs on 400V architecture, you will only get 80kW max out of such chargers (400V x 200A = 80,000W).

So if you have a 800V car and you plug into such DC charger, you get 800V x 200A = 160,000W = 160kW (capped at 150kW at charger side)

800V also means the car can be made lighter (as the cabling is thinner and lighter since current don't have to be that high) and less heat loss generated while charging, all due to less current required to hit higher charging power.

never mindi f its 300km or 500km,

say WLTP of 500km at full charge, best healthy charge is at 20% to 80%,

therefore,

charged to 80% would be 400km

Utilize till 20% would be 320km

cooret me if i am wrong that the useable range would be 320km, and if driven at high speed with another 50% reduction,

finally miileage would be 160km. Have not reach Melaka, need to charge liao. hahahhaha

Regardless of NMC or LFP, charge till 100% for long drive.

With 800v archi, charging to 100% will be faster than 400v archi.
