quick question ... when you were holiday overseas, when fall sick

what's your first "intuition" ...

self medicated like flu/cold

go see local doctor ... i always have this challenge especially travelling in foreign countries

go hospital ... don't know how ... how serious when you feel serious? [sweatdrop]

call spore MFA local office?

Expand

Mainly self medicate.

I remember I've gotten sore throat in Japan, so I went to look for the throat spray.

Then before walking to pay at counter, overheard a father saying,"Not sure where is medication for sore throat is." Sounded like Singaporean.

So I pointed to him also.

I let my kids take Manuka honey at home, also bring overseas when travel, usually keep flu away especially in cold country, also bring along cold medicine.

so far only my son always kena, once got flu and fall sick in HK on Sunday, no nearby clinics was open, end up went to the 24hr one airport, lucky they stay at discovery bay that time. Another case was dislocated shoulder in Busan, call ambulance to A&E in late evening, full of drama [laugh]

most important must buy travel insurance.

What genre of virus so fatal?

I thought antibiotics, yearly flu jab should be able to mitigate such seasonal flu.

Expand

I think if it lead to pneumonia, many times can become quite fatal de, no matter at what age?!

Just walk to their hospital to see a doctor if you cannot find local GP there if you feel really unwell. No need to think.

Still so young, hai…..😰

Was jamming to the theme songs of Meteor garden back then.   Meteor Garden is probably the only Taiwanese TV Series I have ever entirely watched and actually enjoyed.

A part of me, however small, feels the pain.

Guess it is the family's choice and perhaps to facilitate travel plans too for the family.

Gone too soon and may she rest in peace. It's never easy for any family to suffer from such a shock and I can't imagine the pain and grief on her immediate family now..

travel plans...

shouldn't the family all stop any other plans and all return home after such a tragedy?

Old folks better get flu vaccine yearly. I think its free for senior citizen.

My dad's renal doctor, very thorough with him, ask him to take the vaccine on the same of day of the appt when she checked his record.

Pneumonia makes the lung fill up with mucus and pus making breathing difficult.

Not sure post COVID will it make us more susceptible to pneumonia or not.

Could it be Sepsis?

The weakening of immune system that made the body succumb to viruses.

Still can't  wrap my head around pneumonia can be so fatal in such a short times.
