Japanese look like very efficient. But they are also grossly inefficient in many ways.

Some foreigners mentioned that you see A. Refer to B. Then when seeing B, he/she wants to refer to C, you have to go see back A first then A refers you to C.

Many of their so called hospitals are just run by a few doctors. So it's common for those requiring HD or ICU care to be rejected. Acute strokes or heart attacks also.

Very common in JP hospitals esp the small ones. They don't want the problem, so they just reject and turn away. Not their pasar anymore.

I have no experience in jp hospital but what u described is very similar to my experience in taipei hospital. Wife had food poisoning. Went there. Waited for a long time before nurse come over. After that need to go queue and pay before see doctor. Doctor say need to do some test. Then go queue and pay before can do test. After that doc say do gastric lavage which we decline. He then prescribe some meds which we need to go queue and pay first before we can wait to collect. Is really knnbccb.

Whole process take more than 5 hours.

I had experience in Perth, my 1st born then was just 1 yo and running fever at 39+ deg. The onset of fever quite fast, was driving back from Margaret River, mid way of the drive baby started to cry... checked temperature then realised running fever, so we drove straight to Princess Margaret Hospital for Children.

Reached 8pm+, registration took quite a while.

At the counter, I went to check if this was the queue to join, the receptionist looked at me and said,"Can't you see I am serving this lady? Then continue talking to the lady...for a while... then ask what do I need.. I said I'm from Singapore and I just need to check if this is the right queue to join for registration.

In SG we were already using ticket system, There still need to queue up physically to register.

Waited a while for triage... then allocated a waiting bed for pediatrician.

Waited until around 11pm+, then the pediatrician came in, did checks, explain very professionally, addressed our concerns. Warded overnight for observation... discharged in the morning.

Other than the stern look given at registration and anxious wait... overall process is similar to SG.

I always have this fear when travelling

if I have an emergency situation i.e. heart attack, stroke, etc in the middle of the night, in the middle of no where

will my wife able to handle the situation in time

I can imagine the chaos, dying husband, foreign land, worst, foreign language

My wife say she read edmw and that it seems like 大S rejected being transfered to the bigger hospitals? And that she wanted to wait until going back taiwan.

Saw an article saying the same thing. Like she got 2 chances to avoid death.

Apparently the family underestimate her condition. They even posted a little dance video in the hospital.

It is likely that due to language differences, the japan healthcare staff was unable to convey the severity and potential risk of the problem to the family . If the doctor was unable to explain in a commonly understood language on the xray report and its implications , the family would not know how serious her problem was.

Even in SG, if there is any emergency situation happened, also might be too tremor to handle.

The article I read was saying the doc wanted to admit her. But they decline citing flight conflict. Anyway news on the internet take with a pinch of salt. Also, alot of taiwanese (esp celebrities) can speak and understand japanese very well as taiwanese go jp for biz and leisure very often.

Anyway found the link for this news:

after this incident, many people cheong to take flu vaccine ...

i taken flu vaccine before and stop doing so for several years already

i "believe" that vaccine make body weak (reliance on vaccine)

so what say you? flu vaccine yay or nay?

It's the opposite actually. Vaccine trains your body to be more resistant to the disease.

Singapore hospitals lot easier on the payment and administrative processes relatively due to IT, medisave and medishield. RH bills also is pay later.

What he experienced likely happens to foreigners only.

Taiwan has something similar to Medisave/Medishield.

Very likely Local don’t have to pay.

Yeah. i believe so. TW got this "健保" thingy which is similar to our medisave. What i understand is that this is free medical treatment for taiwanese. Thats why im the only one queuing and paying. 🤣 Being foreigners we had to pay quite alot and the meds are no use. my wife had to endure the flight home and see our local gp.

健保in a way is broken as the premium is too low.  In addition, overseas ROC don't pay the premium until they intend to see Doctor.

Accordingly, medicine is of poor quality.

Maybe can try 慈济hospital.  It accept foreign cancer patient.
