That being said, this needs big data to come up with a strong algorithm. This is not like monitoring the current of a motor and predict when it will breakdown. It will be hard to implement predictive maintenance on roads. Need to go ask those amdk. Not sure how cost effective it will be but a few vehicles with Lidar/ special equipment going around SG roads scanning for evenness and cracks may help to prevent potholes, which can be dangerous and damaging to vehicles. I recently blew 2 RFT in Malaysia due to a large pothole on a B road, in comparison, Singapore roads are really quite well maintained. Is there a need to do more? I am not sure if the cost is more than benefits.

The road design always bad, traffic management help to increase congestion and never maintain their roads at all or anyhow patch the road surface to make your car ride more bumpy. Singapore roads and road design has consistently rank top in the world leh. So apparently, uneven resurface roads are pretty standard around the world. 😂

What is written and what is done, are different. The driver is always "careless" first. When I said pedestrians have right of way, I did mean practically. The duty of care is higher for drivers than pedestrians so whilst, as you say, the high court might have ruled that way, it is an interpretation in real terms and who has the higher duty. This is the car driver, rightly or wrongly - personally I think we get the short end of the stick more often than not and cyclists/pedestrians need to take far more responsibility. That said, LTA is imprinting on pedestrians that they(/we) have less responsibility as they amend roads to the detriment of drivers. When you empower in one place, human assumption is it carries over to others. Not saying senior/family/school areas etc. is a bad idea, just that we end with mixed messages.

But also loophole for them to drag on and on! And the quality of the permanent repairs? Let's see after 3 months. I don't have high expectations.

But SG still no see. LTA always live in their own world la, always think that they manage very well on our roads. But in many situation they are causing congestion on our roads. ↡ Advertisement
