I know what you are going to say next. Car-Lite, right? Whatever been levied on vehicle owners will eventually be passed down to the consumers, SMEs and MNCs, and it is no rocket science that when our overhead cost get too high, business owners will be forced out of this little red dot and our job at stake.

You hit the nail on the head. Unlike in the old days where company registered passenger car paid double the road tax, taxi attract an annual road tax of $7700, the current vehicle tax scheme indeed benefit companies while punishing private owner.

The whole vehicle tax structure need a major overhaul. To be fair to all road users, car used for businesses should pay more for COE, road tax and ERP using a multiplier factor, maybe 2x for the start. Make them think twice of bidding more for COE or snapping up EV to take advantage of the loopholes.

Road tax for EV has formula error if I look at it in details.

For ICE car, the starting point for > 3,000cc is equivalent to previous tier.

For EV car, the starting point for highest 2 tier is wrong rather than illogical.

AFC is supposed to be a usage tax. It is stupid to slap a flat amount.

ICE.... I just found out my coolant leaking .... tomorrow going workshop to find which part of the system leaking.

Car old already sure have Tear & Wear,EVs also have Coolant,may also leak when Aged.

Ok, EV uses coolant to cool the battery. ICE uses coolant to cool engine. Same function different parts.

As I know more about the EV industry in China, the more I will think thrice to buy from certain Chinese EV makers here. Especially BYD with depts amounting to >S$100B and smelly reputation even in the industry in China, and XPeng that has been losing money since day 1 till now.

There are also SAIC, Geely, GWM, GAC & DongFeng in our market.

Beside that, VAG Group & BMW.

Plenty of choice

i not asking not to buy EV at all, but to exercise caution only. Or perhaps to know more about the EV makers' financial viability before commiting.

ICE coolant temp is 90+++

EV coolant temp is 30++

Gov't Subsidy on Vehicles are a Joke,discount on Upfront...take back from your PARF.
