Mcscot 5th Gear Wednesday at 02:49 PM Share Wednesday at 02:49 PM @Presea Thanx for your reviews cos I am in the same boat! I have tried the G6 / MY / Sealion 7. I was going to trial the VWs but then stumbled upon the Skoda Enyaq. I really like it and started to do my research! Quite good reviews and apparently best selling EV in UK. However, the new Skoda Enyaq is coming out and released yesterday. FYI. I know people will keep saying that new models and facelifts keep coming out and cannot wait for the next model but I thought I should make all aware before we jump in with our eyes closed. ↡ Advertisement

Thanks for sharing. it looks good, but not sure what the 85x Coupe will cost, or when it will actually be available here. I always regretted not waiting for the Superb back when I bought my Passat... Carbon82 Moderator Thursday at 01:03 AM Share Thursday at 01:03 AM Hi hi @Presea (I am more used to calling you DL actually), thanks for sharing your consideration. If it is meant for your kids, I personally think Zeekr X is a good candidate in term of size and power. Since you are keeping your Sharan, seating capacity should not be a key concern when you are using both cars for your outing. For new driver, it is good to start with something smaller and not too powerful imo. And that's the reason why I didn't go for something bigger when I replace my Sharan 2 years back. And I always have to remind my son to be gentle on the pedal and watch his speed (I got my first ticket in my 30 years of driving after I change car). And last, I hope you are aware that high power EV is not road tax friendly. Those units you mentioned are likely to attract annual road tax of $4K and above, which is easily 3 times more than what you have been paying for the Sharan. BTW Sharan is a good workhorse, worth renewing COE. Good luck to your hunt for the perfect EV.

She is too used to our previous cars and this is actually tighter inside than my previous FD Civic (which basically rules out any small EV). For power, I basically have to make sure my kids stay on "Comfort" mode and basically threaten to takeaway their driving privileges otherwise. If they have to pay fines... I guess the apples do not fall far from this tree. I actually received my first ticket more than 30 years ago... and have been to traffic court twice in the last 10 years... Yes, all too aware of the silly road tax rules for EVs, and that might cause me to rule out the most powerful EVs (I think Sealion AWD is 5.5k per year). Makes me want to find an old RX7 for a 3rd fun car 😀 Yeah, the Sharan is really quite bulletproof. Despite my silly antics (which means a lot of wear and tear changes, like new tyres every year, rims every 2 years, multiple suspension parts, lots of cooling parts...), the engine, turbo, gearbox have all survived for more than 8 years without any repairs and doesn't even leak.... Which I cannot say was the same case for my earlier Passat. But in time to come, I have to consider if it is worth it to keep a fast schoolbus at home when the older kids start to move out... ~ Sigh ~ 2

Yea, I was about to suggest to wait for the Denza Z9, but road tax kills.
Krieger 5th Gear Friday at 05:06 AM Share Friday at 05:06 AM From a current EV car owner (2 brands), you have to be careful on the charging decay rate. I used to own an European brand and after 1.4 years, the consumption shoot up and reduce the efficiency by 20-30%. However, the handling is good. Next is an non European brand. Battery is good, handling is so so and problems on parts rattling appear after the 2nd year. IU is horrible. I need to press many times on the screen at times to get to where I want. In short, its either you go for driving experience or you go for battery efficiency. When new, everything is good. 4

Curious...could it be the electric motor on the European brand generates more heat than the other brand that has caused deteriorating battery efficiency...? TO be frank, I suspect its the software . I realize the European can't do well on battery management as well as the T and the non-European brand. But My wife EV (B**) seems to be doing well. In short, its about battery management I suppose. I also realize if I use my home slow charger, the battery life is better after 1-2 years than the one i used Fast charging outside due to daily needs. There should be a BMS resetting procedure to recovery the lost mileage.

I did feed back on the issue and the agent could not solve it despite saying its normal😀 But any way, its fun driving the European EV. The thing I cannot understand about having a mini fridge is the heat it generates will need the aircon to work extra work. Why in the first place put in? ↡ Advertisement
