ArtOfPagani 1st Gear December 30, 2024 Share December 30, 2024 Was the 2019 Macan the one who started the trend of the "Cyclops" Rear light? ↡ Advertisement

Mockngbrd Supersonic December 30, 2024 Share December 30, 2024 (edited) It's popularly called "Heckblende". It was only recently they started having it illuminated. I think the 911 brought it back. Bentley and BMW 6er have full width third brake light above the rear glass also. Edited December 30, 2024 by Mockngbrd
serenade 6th Gear December 30, 2024 Share December 30, 2024 I think it became law here in the 1980s to have the centre brake light. Statistically, it was proven to bring down the risk of rear end collisions as gave extra time for the driver following to spot the light up and e-brake to avoid rear-ending. I remember I had to pay $$ to have one installed in my ride from the inside, as it was not supplied as stock until cars in the 1990s. IIRC the name of the brake light kit was Hella.

107fan 5th Gear January 2 Share January 2 I don't think the 80s 90s "cyclops" are comparable. In the modern examples, the cyclops are much much thinner and runs throughout the entire rear.
