Any other super market need to do this? Giant is simple, just scan and pay. All the product has the net weight recorded, so when scanned, it will record the total weight of basket and all products, then deduct the scanned product weight on the other side.... The cashier is just a human deterrence, the self check out scanner by itself is smart enough to know if all items in basket been scanned properly or any item been purposely left out. Of course I know how it works. If the idea is to encourage self check out, then they better design bigger counter. What they have are for a single basket with few items checkout. I have toilet rolls, tissue boxes, groceries, etc. end of the day, the assistant will have to bypass the system. It is no more self check out liao.

Trolley load need to queue at cashier checkout. I hated to wait when buying wine at self check out while the assistant was busy with other counter. There was once I needed to walk up to her to get her attention.... even after attended other counters she still didn't notice the red light at my counter.

I have never met an online retailer than just suka suka amend the customer order and then send it out. Crazy… had to waste my time contacting customer support, get my order cancelled and wait for refund. …. This is one of the reasons I dont like to transact with NTUC. NTUC is always my last choice for supermarket amongst other reasons such as : 1) Prices not the best, neither is the range. 2) Self-checkout is super unfriendly as their system treats you as if you are going to steal something. This is my biggest peeve of all. Their checkout only allows you to scan in a certain way which is illogical: I buy one item from another supermarket, I just scan, make payment using paywave and go--> Seamless But not for NTUC, for that one item, the checkout process still requires you to place the item on the weighing platform before you can make payment. Worse still, some items are very light and the weight cannot be detected. And I need the staff to come and overwrite the sequence for me. It’s a waste of time and defeats the purpose of self-checkout. It also don’t allow you to put your items based on where you want to put it. Every time I have another item I bought from another shop, or something else, there is no place for me to put them based on my preferences. Once I have some documents with me, I put them in the plastic back after scanning a few items. The system triggers and alert and a staff have to come again. 3) Their ecommerce store has the worst user UX interface and customer policy. 4) I have also summised that the NTUC member points collection for discount is a "bluff" thing. Because most of their prices are already a bit higher than other supermarkets, after the discount using, the prices are the same as them. I might as well go to Prime or Sheng Siong directly.
