Where did you buy from? You top up using your phone via NFC?

I can't be bothered with the VEP RFID tag anymore cos it expires this year... plus I have to drive to some ulu place to get it tested... very out of the way... I tend to go in very early before 6.00 am and leave before 4.00 pm to avoid getting stuck in jams cos I go in only to run some errands... seldom go in on weekend just to jalan jalan... anyway if need to apply for new one, it's all online plus self service for sticking on the tag... actually my Dad's VEP RFID tag has no issues... he just drives through cos the RFID reader just deducts from his TnG e-wallet... so convenient...

Yeah that lousy EZ-Link x TnG card... mine got this problem with the Road Charge reader... no idea why... right now you know where can top up the original TnG cards? I got myself an NFC TnG card and it's just so convenient...

Actually I'm going to experiment to see if the PayDirect works on my original TnG card - it's supposed to deduct from the TnG e-wallet if the card balance is not enough... not sure if it works for the Road Charge reader... must try the next time I go in... also must try at the highway toll gates... if PayDirect works then I also won't bother to top up my physical card balance cos it will deduct from my TnG e-wallet which is auto-reloaded for my case... that really should be super useful cos no need to find top up machines...

Paydirect don't work for road charge.

Got it from one of the 7-11 or was it shell? Don't remembered now. 😁

Yes, except for the initial reload at 7-11, once I linked it to the app. I have been using the app to reload.

As for the tng app I have using youtrip wallet to reload TNG app instead from local bank.

Now so cheap ah? I remembered in Nov 2021 I tried buying and it was like $50 or more... really cut throat then... now supply exceed demand so the price drop to a reasonable level...

Paydirect is direct debit from eWallet?

In my case (with VEP), the RM20 is debited from ewallet but labeled as RFID Payment.  The RM2.37 is usually classified as Paydirect.  Can't understand the difference.  Do you?

Paydirect means physical tapping and payment via ewallet. RFID is different, using the RFID tag. If u have VEP RFID both should be shown as RFID payment if deduction is successful.

PayDirect = tapping physical TnG card on card reader, if physical card balance not enough, deducts directly from TnG e-wallet balance, provided card is synced with the e-wallet app.

Theoretically this means you never have to top up your card again... cos just tap the empty card and the card readers will deduct from your e-wallet app... haven't tried this yet.

Apparently it works with the toll gates' card readers but not with the Road Charge card readers - go figure... Next round I'll try... cos one of my original physical TnG cards now has only RM 4 left...

TnG RFID tag = for Malaysian cars

VEP RFID tag = for foreign cars (i.e. Singapore)

With either tag, automatic deduction from the TnG e-wallet occurs once your car's tag goes into the detection zone of the RFID readers, provided you synced your tag with the TnG e-wallet app... this is the most convenient but the VEP RFID lasts only 5 years while the physical cards last 10 years...

Basically these will all be made void as Malaysia has started to try direct debit from contact-less credit or debit cards... this is the best for those with access to such cards but not for the lower income group, so I guess some current alternative form of payment method will be retained... I wonder if it will become another Simply Go debacle or become another concurrent payment method...

By left.

By right, all foreign vehicles entering MY are required to have VEP (Vehicle Entry Permit).  Technically, one vehicle can Install only 1 RFID, VEP or TnG RFID.
