Those lessons from the video are nice! Resonates with me because those are the  reasons why I choose to retire young at the peak of my career.

Life has 3 pillars to balance: Work (Income), Health and Relationship.

Work has a negative correlation with Health and Relationship. Work produces stress and also poor eating & lifestyle habits (irregular meals,  less sleep,  over-eating, drinking, etc)   that will deteriorate health in the long run. Work consumes time which eat into building relationship time.

Income matters but it doesn't produce happiness. Happiness comes from a healthy body and meaningful relationship with our love ones.  Most people only discover that in their late 60s or 70s when they wish they had spent more time with their love ones during  their healthier times.

many people still find joys, happiness and satisfaction in their Jobs, and the attitude towars a job. I probably only have 2-3 years of bad working environment, just quit if you think it is bad for your health and relationship.

depends if one wish to sacrifice just for quick money or have a healthy and meaningful job yet still have sustainable income.

Back to topic. I just joined a facebook community group for Senior in Singapore recently. There's quite a number of singles seniors in the group actually. So this problem of above 50s dying alone will get more.

You are right. Many find joy, happiness and satisfaction at work. I felt the same during my career days. Life at work is fantastic with many good colleagues, a good income  and I simply love it.

But one day, I realised  that those  were not joy, happiness and satisfaction.  Those were merely excitement, a sense of pride and dignity at work  which were exchange at the expense of health and relationship at home.

As humans, our innate happiness is derive only through people (usually our family members and close friends) and purpose (what we do for them).  Some people will not agree with me on this, but one day as they age, they will know it is true.

Already have such arrangement. It's called rental flats . Some of the oldies staying in this setup do get along but some don't.

Most of these oldies who are alone usually have some anti social behaviour or habit that's impossible to change. Even drives away their family members. No surprise they die alone without anyone realizing anything.

Ministry  of social and family development should  work with some companies to develop a wearable  for these people who live alone such that when one's heartbeat drops below certain threshold or even stops, the wearable will send a signal to a helpdesk so that someone could respond to the situation.

I think some people might prefer to die alone than get along. 😅

On the above, sometimes I like to put on my critical thinking hat and think from a different perspective.

Are these oldies really anti-social or are they being made to look anti-social by their close ones?

All I know is that there are very few oldies who doesn't value the company of their children. But there are certainly many more children who doesn't value the company of their old folks.

Of course, some are truly anti-social because of old-age  mental health issues, but for the rest, I will not be so quickly jump into judgement.
