Ysc3 Twincharged October 27 Share October 27 New app lets S’pore diners buy unsold food at big discount, help cut food waste Diners keen to buy unsold food from eateries at up to 80 per cent off the retail price before closing time, instead of letting it go to waste, can tap a new mobile phone application. The new app, called Yindii, was launched in August and aims to beef up efforts to reduce food waste by eateries. Quote ...... A surprise bag from Paul’s Paragon outlet contained about $50 worth of bread and pastries. It was purchased for $15 on the Yindii app. ↡ Advertisement

Sosaria Twincharged October 27 Share October 27 It benefits both buyers and sellers, by the way. The sellers would have had to dispose of the excess food for zero gain - if there weren't any buyers by closing time. Now, the sellers get to recoup some $ too. Ysc3 Twincharged October 28 Author Share October 28 i have a staff whose wife used to work at a fried chicken restaurant(cannot mentioend brand) ... every night she would bring home bags of fried chicken(30-40 pcs) and my staff would bring some of it to my workplace for us as breakfast ! pop the fried chicken in the microwave oven and it almost as good as freshly fried !!

Invigorated Supercharged October 28 Share October 28 this is a good move to reduce food waste. that said, it's also good sense to consume all these leftover foods asap and not put them into the fridge and delay consumption again, which can increase the chance of food poisoning. Reduce food waste is always good, but people should not be induce to overconsume beyond their normal meal and meal hours just to get the discount. A lot of these leftover foods are usually pastries, bread, and fast-food stuff. The amount of sugar and calories in these stuff simply boggles the mind, and I need not say more on health consequences if some people make it a habit to consume these stuff before they sleep. Ysc3 Twincharged October 28 Author Share October 28 There are quite a number of neighbourhood bakeries which have been doing this for some time already. These bakeries would offer their buns at a cheaper bundled price after 6 or 7pm. Maybe usually 1 for $1.60 .... Then after 7pm will reduce to buy 2 get 1 free !

Not just neighbourhood...a lot of malls also practise the same...even the kpt at my place also have 3 for 3 dollah promo in the late evening...sometimes i buy if there are still alot left...i tink the kpt owner wants to benefit students from nearby school or early hour workers to have something affordable before they start the day...
