I am thinking about this, about what kind of people and society we want here in Singapore.

The truth is, the current world situation now is quite difficult and unpredictable. And unfortunately bad things can happen when you don't expect it, sometimes even with the best of planning.

So, when bad things happen, whether individually or collectively as a country, should those in a position to help, reach out to help?

Or is it every person for themselves, you die your problem?

I have seen all these kinds of things around and the lesson learnt is one has to fend for themselves.

seeing all those w issues and such crowdfunding for help leaves me conflicted but I still feel that there are agencies that can assist circumvent the situation.

Some of these which could have been avoided in the first place.

I find in current world context, every person is for themselves and you die your problem. Those so called friends might not able to help you. It is always ended up you help yourself.

Of course, one has to be responsible for oneself, and should try their best to put themselves in a position where they can help themselves.

But I think especially in the last few years of thinking and reflection, there are a lot of things in life that you cannot control.

Obviously we cannot help everyone, but I feel, and this is just my personal opinion, if one is in a position to help others, no matter how small, it's always better to help than not at all.

Not everything has to be transactional. It's very anti-LKY, but then again we are not living in LKY era any more.
