And as for viets they have largely taken up those jobs previously staffed by malaysians or PRC, in coffee shops, retail etc. I found a lot of Myanmar doing accounting and auditing. bsswan 6th Gear September 27 Share September 27 Consider SG with 6m, and HK now, after the riots and COVID around 7.5m. This, I think equates to a drop in HK around 10%. The size is, of course, completely different with HK bring so much bigger and having so much more infrastructure so it is no surprise why HK is, more or less, getting cheaper than Singapore. The tagline "just another China city" is being more correct as pricing drops to match Shenzhen. All else bring equal, one day either SG prices itself out of the market or, like HK, implodes to match its neighbours.

Jurong west - PRCs, bangalas Upper bukit timah/hillview - koreans West coast - japanese Balestier - indonesian, vietnamese, PRC students/young professionals Marine parade/east coast - indian nationals Also depending where the international schools are located. Changi/Simei area have Japanese school so have some Japanese staying around this area too. Not just Indian. American School at Woodland, Serangoon North area have French and Australian school. If go Robertson quay area still see many Ang Mo there. Sentosa probably most mixes in nationality. Most Ang Mo like to stay around town area. If go Paragon, use to hear Chinese speaking bahasa, those likely Indon Chinese. PRC is widely spread out across SG mainly from PR to EP/SP and work permit. West side have the canadian school and british school (dulwich). What happen to the malaysians? Most widely spread out? Or SG is becoming less attractive these days, for those working professionals - not talking about the blue-collar workers. Hearsay that the high cost of living - which translates to lower living standards here - is making SG less attractive to malaysian professionals these days, compared to say 20-30 years ago. So their place is now being taken over gradually by vietnam, myanmar, PRC, India working professionals - of which we see more and more around us. The current generation of malaysian knowledge workers would rather ply their skills back in their own country, where despite lower salary due to exchange rate, they can still get a better living standard than in SG, or work overseas (more common these days with more opportunities available through better online connectivity / networking). This is what i heard recently from a PR colleague. The malaysians we see around us these days are more of the blue collar job workers , lower level rank and file admin staff and all that - those that commute daily between jiuhoo-land and SG. Why I never mention Malaysian? Because they are the highest foreign nationality in SG. They are also in every part SG.
