check first. maybe really GST registered.

The shop could be voluntary GST registered. No need revenues more than 1m a year also can GST registered.

Doubt they would adjust the pricing menu. Not costs effective. Imagine reprinting all the memu/brochure/promotion materials.

Reprinting is small cost and can get supplier to redo.

Ya, the other day when i went to a workshop to patch a tyre, the guy there told me $10, then when i was paying the guy, he says need to include GST and pay $10.90. 😅

Talking about inflation and GST....

I bought a chrome side panel for my car, smaller than the palm size, few years ago I bought from the stockist was $50+$3.50.

Then last week from the same stockist, bought the other side, it's $80+$7.20. 🤦

+60% increase.

Small business mah.... But yah... Don't think the vouchers will be given for car owners😅

I had utilised the 1st set of CDC voucher to offset the cost of a foldie bike as the bike shop is part of the small local retail biz.

Its a good gesture from Putien. Less of Service Charge and GST is alot of saving. I credit them for this initiative especially the Service Charge which is way dated and rampantly abused by business. Time to give them a chance.

Yalor. We should support. It is quite rare that business voluntarily reduces price. Hope Putien will honor its words on no change to menu price and serving portion size.

He also assures diners that prices on the menu – known for its home-style Fujian cuisine – will not change, nor will portions shrink.

I dislike, immensely, the whole ++ thing. What you see is what you should pay, why should I do maths in my head to cross-check the final price before ordering.

The fact is, these days, adding ~20% on top of the price seen is unrelatable to the advertised price in a menu. This needs to be banned, put everything in the advertised price and we know the final cost. This means adding it all in, fine, this is the way it needs to be.

At least ++ is more or less fixed in Singapore. Hate US tipping culture which is creeping to other parts of the world.  20-30 years ago it was a discretionary 10%, now if you don't give 20-25%, the server's family will go hungry.  WTF, it is no longer a tip, the diners are paying the salary of the servers.

Just put the price to the menu and pay proper salary.

I had it in Edinburgh a couple of months ago at a coffee shop.......

Walk in and order everything from the screen, like McD's here, and at check-out it was asking "Add Tip, $1, $2, $5, Customs." At that point, I had done all the bl@@dy work!

A tip before service, insanity.

Everything in the price, job done. Here, there, anywhere. Stop-the-Steal! 🤭

Value of tip will represent time required to serve 🤣.

$5 tip, ready and served in 5 mins

$2 tip, ready and served in 10 mins

$1 tip, ready and served in 25 mins....

Yeah, that's why we eat at other places more because portions are shrinking.

I like this nett price thing. Some countries restaurants need to advertise net price in their menu which make sense.

When you go shopping, almost ALL prices include GST and is nett price. So why is restaurant different? so we can learn maths?

So u can order more food and feel cheap cheap
