The Management decided to put stoppers at all lots. Making it very difficult to park. Do u feel the same?

Hi Achtung,

Bidadari BTO carpark has the same stoppers for the parallel parking there. If you're reversing into the lot you can't see the front stoppers!! Unless your car has the 360deg cam.

I had another issue with Junction 8 carpark, my rear bumper lower kit was damaged when I drove up slope after the exit gantry barrier.

The position of the hump, uncovered drain and upslope gradient is a bad combination. If your car is loaded, the car rear will slamp down hard as you accelerate to go up slope.

There'll be a couple of these imperfections everywhere on the roads, not too sure why they never get around to fixing them.

Adds to the character of the places, I guess, and just have to remember the quirks of each location and drive slowly, carefully to avoid damaging the underside of the car.

Some places like:

NTU exit to pioneer rd north, slope going down towards the main road, then a sudden level off at a sharp angle. If going too fast with a heavy car-load, will scrape the front bumper.

TradeHub at Jurong East, somehow the speedbumps encountered when driving towards the macs drive-thru are weird - always end up banging something from the sudden up-down motion. They look like ordinary speedbumps but somehow.

Sin Ming plaza open space carpark, turning in and moving towards the gantry, the "bump" is actually the road rising up and down in a sharp angle like triangular shape. Sure scrape something if going too fast.

Any more? All the above can be clearly seen on goggle map street view [laugh]

Singapore's Roads & Carparks not ''Friendly'' to very Low Body Kit or Cars with Lowered Suspension,Mod it too low, that is the results...That is why SUV/Crossover are the Trend now.

I can understand sometimes that such design is not a mistake but rather shows careful thinking.

They don't want drivers to speed down the slope straight out into Pioneer Road North, to avoid traffic accidents. Also left-right of the photo, sometimes there can be cyclists and pedestrians, quite dangerous at night.

Purposely want to make drivers slow down, so there! [laugh]

Putting stoppers cost $, businesses wouldn’t do it unless necessary. I reckon it is due to too many people parking across or very close to the lines. Coupled with the fact that there are tons of MPVs that need space to open their tailgate, must have got numerous feedback. Hence added the stoppers, well at least it forces or teaches people to learn how to park in the lot.

personally I don’t find these much of a hassle, don’t have trouble parking into lots, parallel or otherwise. It does bring me some relief that there wouldn’t be a car parked in the middle of 2 lots or eating into the other lot making it impossible to park.

Maybe need to feedback to the relevant parties and get them to fix those problems? If not the problem will be there forever.

Worked at NBS for 3 solid years. The new NBS parking lots is so limited in the name of sustainability. I hate driving into the car parks at the Halls like the one in the picture. Even if u are dead slow, sure kena.

Yes I do agree with your rationale. But some of these lots are impossible to reverse park in unless the areas at the side or in front are free of parked cars. During peak periods, it creates another issue... Jam as people do 5 pt turn just to park.

Some (most) carparks in Singapore are drawn based on certain specifications which were in an era when cars were smaller. The lots probably weren’t meant for a 7 series or something long, and many times I see cars like that parking in, effectively taking up more than 1 lot.

I think junction 8 isn’t as bad as some places, where only small cars can fit into the lots (picanto sized).

https://sso.agc.gov.sg/SL-Rev/PPA1974-R5/Published?DocDate=20090331&ProvIds=Sc-

We have laws that states minimum size of lots, I guess they should be well within (outside) of the requirements.
