The media should let her mature naturally...slowly...at her own pace...the pressure on these Chinese divers are more so than others...have to shoulder the pressure from 1.3bn expectations...also not easy on ChenYX...naysayers...critics...nepotism...etc ping-pong badminton swimming also same same with too many talents...much more expectations...😅

Yes, that's in the past. In the past during the Frost era, China also had Zhao, Yang Yang and Han Jian.

My point is that due to China dominance over the decades, they have far better support, training, coaches and players compared to the Danes. So for  a Dane to win 2 Olympic gold in the modern era, that to me is far better achievement than the 2 golds won by Lin Dan.  VA actually made a trade-off by uprooting his whole family to Dubai so that he can invite and train with other top plyers. It is really all his own initiative to try to stay at such a level.

but to me the current china badminton players not as good as before where they dominate almost all categories. China doesn't have top men's, women's single, men's double for like past 10 yrs.

The current badminton scene is like anybody can beat anybody, no guarantee like in the past where 90% see Lin and Lee in the final, maybe F4 in women's single but that will change from 2024 and onward. Hence you will see players from different country come and go in top 10.

@mersaylee easy to say. But china netizens are how toxic... Makes Koreans and other countries look tame.

That's why the media outlets should exercise social responsibility...towards audience as well as stakeholders...in this case, the athletes...

Strawberry generation aside...I sense a lot of discontent in all sports within china...they have many good players from different provinces...but can they gel well...can the coaches and management team work together effectively to assemble a formidable team without external influence...these are some concerns post 2016...since they bettered their overall standing from 3rd at Rio to 2nd at Tokyo...undercurrent local power struggles are real...to earn a slice of the pie...every athlete or coach wants their own disciple to be on the top of the podium...

Behind the glories,  there's also the despair...

yesterday the speed climbing female elimination. The Indon woman had chance of making final 8. But she fell midway while leading the slower competitor.

I think her top speed is full second faster than her competitor.

Is this report real?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-13709987/amp/imane-khelif-olympics-boxing-gender-wbo-failed-test.html

Kovacs, himself a former Olympic and world champion boxer, told Hungarian outlet Magyar Nemzet: 'The problem was not with the level of Khelif's testosterone, because it can be adjusted nowadays, but with the result of the gender test, which clearly revealed that the Algerian boxer is biologically male.'

Lol prodigal son claim the bronze after falling out with their federation due to incompetence.

Had to pay their own way for the support staff.

The women's gold medalist Ahn also was unhappy with Korean federation mismanagement of her injury leading up to the games. Wants the options of going professional like LZJ without the federation.

Very hard to say lah. It's not like she's carrying pen and paper and purposely go bump someone.

She's holding some camera with lens in her right hand.

Her left is carrying a big telephoto with monopod.

for LZJ is more on his team vs national, each has own agenda n politics, let them fight it out.

The unhappiness of players with national team quite common even in China, the chinese head coach also not well liked by the players and supporters [laugh]

Probably her sight were on the lenses. I doubt any sane person would pull those stunt in front of world-wide audience.

She was walking straight then veered right. This type must counter with an answer handphone stance with elbow sticking out and into her face if she continues to barge in.

We see such people on the street everyday. Eyes glue to their phone oblivious to the surrounding. 🤣🤣

Why don't we see this in athletics? Reason is caster semenya.

She's labeled female at birth but genetically she's intersex. She's a feminized XY.

Cos of her. World athletics has a mandate to limit testosterone below certain limit.

I'm pretty sure there are many sports which have less publicized bans. Cos strength is a major component in many sports. Having more or stronger muscles/frame is an outsized advantage in most sports.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caster_Semenya

When there's only two boxes to tick, you will get ticked into one of these boxes. Even if > 99.9% of people fall into the 2 boxes. You will never hear of  someone saying their kid has ambiguous genitalia or undefined gender at birth. Even though it's prevalence could be around 2 in a 1000 people. Even pediatricians may only see a few in their entire careers. And possibly none.
