why not PI ody 2.0 ehev for a relatively full sized 7 seater.

Cheaper than the above 2 options.

Not really keen on Ody all along as find it too boring. Would prefer Stepwagon over it any time, and I have already owned it before haha. This Carnival is really a beast like Alphard/Vellfire but much frugal.

@VWenthusiast ultimately carnival is a MPV, for sure it’s much more spacious

Is really depends on a few factors whether the MPV is suitable for the family. An important one is how tall are the family members. My wife and my MIL and 2 girls are only 1.6xm so definitely no issue getting into the 3rd row if necessary. If all in the family are > 1.7m then no need to consider this kind of mid-size MPV. And I really do not find the logic of driving a full-size MPV if only serving 1 or 2 or 3 passengers >90% of the time. And this kind of ride also burn more fuels, much more in the case of Vellfire that was doing 7km/L constantly. But if this turbo hybrid can do around 14km/L in real life then is definitely more palatable. Also full size cars are much harder to manouvre in tight spaces. But life is always full of surprises so never say never lah.

I drove the turbo diesel in australia and it was a great joy to drive even with 4 adults, 2 kids and lots of luggage. Accelerate uphill to overtake at 130/140kmh no problem at all. Quiet and yet very powerful.

As much as I love the car, the pricing is still a bit too bonkers for me to consider when the Noah/Stepwagon are 75k cheaper and the ody $50k cheaper?

I also hired the Kia Carnival turbo diesel in Oz and was the perfect vehicle for the wife, two kids, sister outlaw and mum. All together 4 adults and two kids with plenty of room to spare for groceries (running to Costco) and a number or road trips. Around town the turbo diesel wasn't that efficient, but cruising on the highway - the mileage was impressive. Would consider getting one.

Unfortunately (or fortunately - depending on the point of view) in the past year, a number of options from Chinese EV and Battery Co. have presented a number of options. This includes the Denza D9 from BYD. Xpeng X9 and Li Auto's Mega van also looks interesting.  Makes the Carnival look and feel outdated.
