KIA FY24 Carnival - Hybrid

 Share

Recommended Posts

Booked a Carnival in Apr/May for my upcoming 3 week Tasmania and Melbourne trip in Oct, but no guarantee is of latest gen lah. Is the only ride there that can fit 5pax with big lugguages comfortably.

Back in 2002, I brought Kia Mentor (nickname the mini version of Merc 200 because of the 4 headlights - 2 big & 2 small)

My impression of Carnival stopped at early 2000 and i find this car design is quite ugly and look cheapo. 😅

I saw this car before, the headlights looks weird. Don't remember the name is Mentor. Maybe during that era, not many in sg?! Lol.

I brought it because it was the cheapest 1,500 cc car. Brought it at $52k whilst Toyota Corolla selling at $60 ~ 68K (1.5cc or 1.6cc) :we-all-gonna-die:

Actually I rented Carnival and Starex before when holidaying in Melbourne and Tasmania previously. No better choice due to need to passenger and cargo space. My recollection is that Starex really cheapo and no power but Carnival is much better in quality and able to pull up slopes quickly.  When i was sourcing for suitable ride in Apr/May, Starex no longer available and left only Carnival that can meet my requirements. The last row when collapse onto the floor really can yield alot of cargo space. Even when when left in place, the deep space behind the last row can really put alot of stuff.

Neutral Newbie

At first, I was wondering if Korean cars are worth the price! After the test drive, I still paid the deposit. Although the roof height is sufficient, the second-row seats are also high, which makes it feel a bit oppressive. Everything else is pretty good! Nearly 2 meters in width and 5.15 meters in length, it looks quite formidable visually.

That era korea car confirmed cheapest and the price gap between those jap sedan at least 10k or more. Even though korea car in that era cannot make it, but still got people buy due to cheap price. Lol.

I think must see which era of Carnival you referring to. I guess Carnival has improved over the years and getting better and looks not so cheapo liao. Lol.

I brought it because KIA was new to the market & also the cheapest which at that time, they are in-cooperate with Mitsubishi which they are using Mitsubishi Lancer engine.  :we-all-gonna-die:

Sold it after driving it for 3 years.

Trade in for Toyota Corolla 1.5 in which, just nice for the down payment as break even for my 3 years usage due to COE keep increasing. [smash]
