New signings for the new season! With the departure of Varane and inpending sales of Casemiro, Eriksen, AWB and Maguire, these two new signings will augment the midfield and defence structure as we have Mainoo and Mason Mount with Dalot, Martinez and Shaw to shore-up these positions. Also, among the Academy players, Amad and Harry Amass were impressive in the pre-season friendly match against Rangers yesterday and deserves a place in the first team squad to bring MU to greater heights under ETH who signed a new contract till 2026.

Upon the return of the regulars from Euro'24 in time for pre-season matches against Arsenal (28/7), Real Betis (1/8), Liverpool (4/8) and the Community Shield Cup against ManCity (10/8), these friendlies should confirm the starting-eleven before we swing into our first EPL match with Fulham on 17/8.

Manchester United are on the front foot in the transfer market thanks to the club's leadership making quick and decisive moves to secure new players early, manager Erik ten Hag said after the signing of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

United signed French defender Yoro on a five-year contract for a fee of 62 million euros ($67 million) on Thursday, the 18-year-old had been pursued by several top European clubs prior to his move to Manchester, including Real Madrid.

Another crucial signing was striker Zirkzee, who had an excellent season with the Serie A club Bologna last season and played for Netherlands in the European Championship. United paid 42.5 million euros for the 23-year-old for a five-year deal / CNA.

Supercharged

I won't be singing Glory glory yet . . . Be merry merry 1st, Yoro was some1 impressed me against Ranger, his leg are longer in inner right marshalling , he looks very confortable and confident with the ball, will wait how he feels in EPL games  . . . Question is will he be the game changer or mover as a typical CB ?

6th Gear

Happy with the good start, but that's all it is. A good start. New management has shown up the stupidity that has been the last 10 or so years. Now up to the ones actually kicking the balls to, erm, kick on and keep up or do better than the standards being set by the management.

ManU 1 (Ganarcho) - ManC 1 (Bernardo) 7-6 on penalties (Community Shield - Wembley)

The preamble to the EPL with Onana, Martinez, Maguire, Evans and Dalot in defence - Mainoo and Casemiro in midfeild and Bruno, Amad, Rashford supporting Mason Mount in front. With ManC on the front-foot with more possession and attacking flair, with Doku and Bobb very effective on both flanks, we only found our rhythm after the 35th minute after some sloppy and jittery moments in playing out from the back. Nil score at halftime.

No changes for both teams at the start of the second half but we were the one on the attack, with Bruno's goal ruled offside at the 53rd minute. A total of four changes were made in the 58th minute, with Toby Collyer (under 21 player), Mctominay, Ganarcho and Pellestri coming on for Mainoo, Amad, Mount and Maguire. Another replacement in the 83rd minute by Jadon Sancho (who made peace with ETH) for the ineffective Rashford was followed by a goal by Ganarcho in the 85th minute but Bernardo Silva equalled for ManC on his 30th birthday 3 minutes later which made it 1-1 at fulltime. Unlike the other finals, there was no extra time alloted as not to tax the players at the commencement of the EPL and the penalty shootout was won by ManC with a 7-6 score.

MANCHESTER, England : Manchester United's newly acquired centre-back Matthijs de Ligt said his long playing partnership with Noussair Mazraoui will be a big boost to United's back line, an area that was decimated last season by injuries.

The defenders signed contracts on Tuesday from Bayern Munich making United their third team together, and they could both feature in the squad's season opener on Friday against Fulham at Old Trafford.....

They also know Erik ten Hag well, having both played for the United boss when he was Ajax manager //cna

ManU 1 (Zirkzee) - Fulham 0 (EPL - Home)

In the opening night for the new season and Mazraoui making his debut in defence with Maguire, Martinez and Dalot, the midfield was helmed by Mainoo and Casemiro with Rashford, Mount and Amad supporting Bruno in front. We had more of possession (61%) and chances from Bruno and Casemiro but Fulham's impenetrable defence were up to the task. Both Rashford and Mount were mere passengers.

No changes at the start of the second half till the 59th minute when Mount and Amad were replaced with Ganarcho and new-signing Joshua Jirkzee, followed by new-comer De Ligt and Evans for Maguire and Mazraoui and later by Mctominay for Mainoo in the 84th minute. The long awaited, well-deserved goal was scored by debutant Zirkzee in the 87th minute who tapped-in the ball off Ganarcho's pass. Notable were Casemiro and Maguire's improvements from last season but the same cannot be said of Rashford's under-performance.

Dun know what's wrong with mount.

He is not that bad with Chelsea.  Even get into England team.

From last season and this season friendly. Mount cannot fit into man u team.

He is not even bad. Cannot judge him because he cannot even get the ball. Other players simply dun pass to him.

Mount has'nt gelled with the others, being injured and only played few games (and then subbed) since he was signed. None of thr individual skills displayed from his hey days and good to see Ratcliff go for the young and promising players instead if just signing players based on their past glories like Varane, Casemiro, Antony, Eriksen etc.

ETH still has faith in Rashford to feature in the starting eleven and not subbing him, in the hope that he gets a goal and regain his potential and long-lost confidence but if he cannot, then best to let him go, unlike Casemiro who has shown improvement, as shown at yesterday's Fulham match.

ManU 1 (Amad) - BHA 2 (EPL - Away)

A lack-lustre performance and apart from Amad's goal in the 60th minute, another chance to take the lead was wasted when Ganarcho's goal-bound shot was chalked-off as Zirkzee was offside when he nudged the ball in. With two substitutions in the 78th minute for Bruno and Maguire for Mctominay and De Ligt and then Antony for Amad in the 89th minute with seven minutes added-on, it was a defensive error that allowed Brighton to score in the 94th minute and they were the desering winners after their 3-0 demolition of Everton last week.

Not a good start for ETH although it's still early days to have the new-comers gel with the others.

Unlucky MU tonight...one step too far ahead...denied what might be the winner...one slip at the back in dying minutes cost them go home without even a point...

ManU 0 - Liverpool 3 (EPL - Home)

New-signing Zirkzee took the place of the injured Hoijlund and was supported by Ganarcho, Rashford and Bruno, with Mainoo and Casemiro in midfield. New defender De Ligt took the place of Maguire, with Mazraoui, Martinez and Dalot in defence. It was early in the 16th minute that Liverpool's Trent AA scored but Mo Salah was judged offside in the run of play and they were in the front-foot for most parts of the game, with us not having a shot at goal till Mazraaoui's feeble attempt in the 31st minute.

Two mistakes from Casemiro, who's wayward pass resulted in Luis Diaz to nod the ball to score in the 34th minute and another sloppy display in losing the ball provided Trent AA's first-ever brace for his team. With the chronic display of Casemiro and Zirkzee, Martinez and Mainoo booked, some substitutions for the second half will gave to be made.

As expected, Casemiro was replaced by 20 year-old academy-youth player Toby Collyer at the start of the second half, but that did not stop Mo Salah from scoring in the 56th minute to put the game to bed. A double substitution for De Ligt and Garnacho by Maguire and Amad in the 60th minute to try to change the momentum did not result in anything concrete. With his faith in Rashford not paying any dividends and this season's expected new dawn not arriving, the future for ETH does not look bright.
