Petrol cars produce carbon dioxide and trees suck in carbon dioxide and turns it into food.

Electric cars do not produce CO2 of course trees don't like EVs lah.

To calculate ICE vs EV

people have to calculate the Total Cost of Pollution.

To mine the minerals for the batteries and to transport it halfway around the world by polluting ships even before the car is built.

Then what are we going to do with the dead batteries?

Its like peeing in our little sampan

because we think we can find a big ship

and abandon our little sampan.

What if we cannot find a bigger ship and stuck in our little sampan?

:D

Even if we can find another planet to live on how many can go?

Only the very rich and the very scheming.

Now even if I was rich enough to go I wouldn't want to live with these kind of people.

I rather stay on Earth and enjoy the free sauna everyday.

New comparison:

Like drugs, when you get hooked with no alternatives, the supplier bumps up pricing because.......... they can.

Who even knows what the total reality is for electric vs petrol powered vehicles in relation to their environmental costs? It will take another 20 years to make clear... it may be too late either way...

We might end up in the same situation with regards the diesel scandals, there are still lawsuits and compensation claims in EU and US against motor manufacturers for false claims of cleanliness and fuel efficiency.

Governments were incentivising switches to diesel power based on test results.......... oops. We are doing the same now, but on a MUCH larger scale.

The last thing I want is one of these EV to go into thermal runaway whilst in my car park.

The disaster is already happening with regards mining and setting up of enormous giga-factories.

It will get far worse with your dead batteries. Most countries will not have the capability to recycle, so the shipping of batteries is another concern, they will not be 100% dead.

Yeah... we'll never know... until we know... I'll hang onto my car when the COE expires... hopefully I have enough to renew... not really interested in electric vehicles given the current state of things and the uncertainty as to whether they do as stated on the can and inconvenience...

Shipping of trash to specific countries for recycling just don't make sense on getting greener...

Unless the ships are nuclear powered.
