Carbon82 Moderator January 4, 2022 Share January 4, 2022 Frankly, once you factor in the depreciation cost, the saving (electricity vs petrol) become lessΒ significant. Of course one can say that the maintenance cost (servicing, wear and tearΒ replacement, etc.) is lower for BEV, but do factor in the battery replacement cost after 150K Km (upon expiry of factory warranty) as it may easily cost >$20K. Stay tuned for more comparison. I will be tabulatingΒ some B&B models for the next round.

Β how does EV works for big country like USA, China, Canada, Australia etc if you intend to go interstate? As of today EV only seem to works in cities due to short distance/ mileage range and long charging time. Will you wanna use an EV for road trip ? If there is a queue...good luck. Β There are also other things I read about online. Like there are now Level 1, 2, and 3 charging. Level 3 being the fastest charger. But then there are downsides of fast charging ie. heat. It will deteriorate the battery faster. Level 2 charging be ideal but it will take longer to recharge. You will have to take care of the battery pack cos it is the single most expensive part in the car. Our climate also plays a part on battery deterioration. The battery is like the human being, cannot tahan hot and cold weather. Active cooling system for the batteries is a must have function on any EV. If it doesnt come with it, dont buy.
