Can’t help but feel a bit gutted to crash out of the CL. Especially when we finished top during the league phase.

PSG, without the troublesome stars, are actually now a more balanced and cohesive unit. Plus with the state of the French league, they are hardly tested week in/week out.

As for us, we have a cup final this weekend and thereafter another 9 games. And with the CL exit, we can fully set our sights on a roaring finish.

YNWA…..

I feel its ok since Pool out of UCL due to penalties kick. :we-all-gonna-die:

In penalties kicks, either one have to loose. :lll._.: If only they agree to a 3rd rematch in neutral ground will be good. :secret-laugh:

If lost the match due to some inconsistencies, I will be mad.... :yuush:

Pool played well and but not good enough. To be fair to PSG, they probably shaded it over the 210 min of playing time. It is no shame to lose to a better team and Pool pushed them every inch of the pitch.

Pool's form is not exactly strong but probably not the cause of real concern at this point. Sunday will be an important occasion for Slot to silence the doubters inside the team and external people.

It's fine to manage expectations of everyone at the beginning of the seaon. Remember that our charismatic, somewhat legendary, and undoubtedly popular manager who brought back the smiles to all Pool fans, left and was replaced by a somewhat unknown. And the team was just coming through a transition as in the midfield and attack of the few previous great years, were mostly gone and the replacements did not set the team alight in the last 1-3 seasons.

So everyone started the season with the thinking that just clinching a UCL spot would be a success.

Then the somewhat unthinkable happened:

- Pool carved out wins after wins domestically, while rivals all conspired to deceive, with the strongest favourite City deciding to lose more matches this seasons than maybe the last 5-7 (ok, maybe fewer) seasons combined... and Arsenal and other traditional challengers all showing inconsistency, leaving teams like Forest, Bournemouth, Brighton, Villa, etc. to be fighting for the European places...

- and also managed 100% record in UCL first round until the last match, when qualification was long confirmed, combined with so many European powerhouses (RM, BM, City, PSG, JUV, etc.) struggling to secure qualification until the last 2-3 matches...

So all of a sudden the hopes and expectations of all Pool fans went on a bull run and shot through the roof... even hoping for an unprecendented quadruple...

Now that the FA Cup and UCL are gone, suddenly there is concern that will this affect the morale of the team so badly that they cannot recover, and will end up empty-handed...

I am sure everyone remembered a few seasons ago it was almost similar, when Pool was fighting on 4 fronts too, but eventually only winning the FA Cup and League Cup, but fell short at the end for Premier League and UCL Final, just a week apart...

The team did not start well the following season, and Klopp said that the players still hadn't gotten over thle to e disappointment of the 2 setbacks at the end of the previous season.

We need the players to be mentally strong and be able to get back to their best this weekend against Newcastle. Win it, and morale can recover immediately for the final league run-in.

In any case, i'm quietly confident that Pool has done enough to win BPL again this season, thanks in no small part to the inconsistency of the chasing pack. If there was a chaser in the mould of Pool chasing City in that couple of tight seasons, there will be real concern. But fortunately that's not the case this season.

Let's cheer the team on so that we can draw level with Utd - who is in deep shit - on no. of titles won.

Just remember, nobody would have expected the team to be in this - good - position when the season first started.

YNWA.

For cup competitions, ultimately luck plays a part at some point. Denmark won Euros back in 1992 eventually when initially they were not even among the countries who qualified for the competition...

and it was just pure bad luck that having done so well for the group stage, pool should have to draw PSG, a recent finalist in the competition... it would have been far better to have qualified in lower position, then could have draw a lesser team...

Its a pity to go out of UCL on penalties... cos the 120min played doesn't matter anymore except for injuries and incidents which might force penalty takers to go off earlier.

Yeah the minimum target for Slot was to secure UCL status for next season... so we shouldn't be complaining. But we have a mathematical 12pt lead with 9 games to go... we have a good chance of going to the finals if we get past PSG plus we won the 1st leg 0-1.

Anyway agree that the league title is the most important and the most important game is the next game... which is league cup final...

The most ideal situation ahead is to win the league cup and wrap up the league title in another 4 games... (Arsenal must drop more points) so that Slot can start rotating the fringe players...

So easy for nc to put the ball into the box...on the contrary pool hardly did it

Salah and the hardly seen simi sai should make way for jones and elliot liao...maybe gakpo or even nonet later on for jota...

Pool defenders had put up a good fight till that slip moment on the outswinger conrner kick...nc have been more creative while pool still playing same style...
