Jamesc Hypersonic January 7 Share January 7 (edited) I don't know why TAA plays right back as he does not have a defensive brain. We had another player that started as right back but we moved him to midfield. Then we found out he wasn't a defensive midfielder and got Lucas, Alonso and Marshmallow to partner him as defensive mid. Then Rafa the genius pushed him to right midfield to swing in crosses for Torres and licence to play as the free role number 10 and he kept scoring from just outside the box. In a 4 3 3 TAA should just play right midfield just like Gerrard. in a 4 2 3 1 when Salah goes TAA should be the right sided 3 if we have a Salah type wide man on the left 3 like Georgian Kavita. Disagreed. Stevie can tackle an opponent even though most of the times took out the opponent as well. Trent, I don't recall seeing him tackling an opponent like Connor Bradley done so during the Real Madrid game before he got injured. 1

And he can tackle very well. But Stevie cannot see danger and when he played as a defensive mid teams used to score against us by playing around him and going pass him. But if a player is not defensive minded and he is really good in attacking make him an attacker, why make him defend? Like Gareth Bale is a very good left back but he was so much more valuable as a flying winger. As a defender Bae is 10m but as a flying winger he is 93m. Same with Stevie, he started as right back but he became a midfielder and then the world's best attacking midfielder! TAA should be an attacking midfielder with a more defensive midfield partner like Rice. TAA is wasted as a right back. Same with Frimpong and Alphonso Davis that we are looking at, they are good defender and very good going forward but I think they could also be wingers. I really hope we get Frimong and Kerkez but if Bigmouth wants too much money for Kerkez then we can look at free signing Davis. What I see in trent he.doesnt have the burst of speed like Gerrard. He doesn't dribbles past opponent like luhcho, salah. He can tackle, as least hardly see him doing two-legged tackle. Position sense need those around him like sobo, Konate, vvd to alert him. So...what is he good at? Spraying passes. Taking free kick.

He will be world champion. He can't drive forward like most good CM.. e.g. Macca or Szoboszlai...he can't turn like Thiago or Gravenberch.. he can't dribble like Jones or Elliot... he can't destroy like Endo... he is right footed so play right back... I won't even compare him to Gerrard.. Carra was a star no. 6 in his youth but he wasn't mobile enough and skillful enuff but he was versatile.. so he found a place across the back line Gerrard was all along a midfielder but had muscle issues while growing up. He was introduced as a right back and they probably found him wasted in defence. Then he was moved into midfield to partner McAllister and/or Hamann under Houllier. Rafa decides to move him further upfront cos he wasn't the best in following instructions (according to Rafa)..he is good in tackles but can compromise our defensive shape.. however his raw power, skills and shooting ability lands him in an attacking mid role after we signed Alonso and then Mascherano... he needs a no. 9 to play in front.. after signing top scoring Kuyt who didn't light up the scoring charts, we splashed on Torres.. he was the perfect no. 10 supporting Torres.. though he appears everywhere in no. 10, no. 8 and no. 6. He was the libero between midfield and forward lines. Hardworking Kuyt was the Ray Houghton in the RAM role.. what we lack was a left sided attacking mid... Benayoun was good though though come to think of it.. in Klopp's team, Gerrard would be the chaos creator up front like Nunez but he can score from outside the box... inside the box and from the penalty spot... and doesn't get offside as he usually come from deeper position. You got good memories. Yes I remembered Rafael claimed Gerrard always weak in following instruction. Rafa did benched him for few matches as punishment. 😁 When he and Torres both on the field there will be goals. 😁

If you ask me about Antonio Nunez, i cant tell you anything except he was part exchange for Owen's transfer to RM and he was the reason i csn pronounce Nunez. I remember i missed Gerrard's debut... my brother told me liverpool has a new right back who is damn good.. lol After he moved in to midfield... he was a hard tackling destroyer. One day he scored a wonderful solo goal by dribbling past the entire opponent defence.. He grew up thinking his job is to have a physical presense in the middle and win balls for his team mates to score... however, he seemed to have the desire to bomb forward (overload the attack) whenever he could. Imagine Gravenberch bombing forward whenever he had the chance and leaving poor Macca to stay back as sole no. 6 in the current system... Most importantly, he has the quality to play up front and willing to put in a shift at other positions (if required) and usually did well. Maybe Slot should try TAA as no. 6 partnering Endo for Carabao cup semi 2nd leg if we can achieve a 2 goal lead for 1st leg. Raymondism Twincharged January 8 Share January 8 Come to think of it.. If we have a good no. 9 (preferably someone who can also feature as right sided wide forward), Nunez can be re-purposed as left wing. I remember him doing well on the left wing at times. Truth is, its hard to sell Nunez for 60M unless some teams already had him in mind. If we can get Diaz to sign a new contract to up his salary (and value), he is the most sellable player among our 6 forwards. It was rumoured that Barca wants him and am sure there are other big teams keeping a tab on him. If the rumours regarding Gordon was real, it seems that Slot was indeed looking for another winger before signing Chiesa. If Nunez can perform pretty well on left wing, Gakpo (1st name to be considered for LW) and him are both hardly injured and we are good on left wing. Nunez can also play as no. 9 at times. If we get someone like Isak or Gyokeres or Joanathan David or Evan Ferguson or other cheaper unknown versions who can score 20 league goals a year, Jota can be a back up for no. 9 or as super sub (he cant play every game for 90 min due to his injury record) Salah, needs to be replaced anyway due to his age. For now, Chiesa (if suitable for EPL), Elliot or even Doak can fill in at times. Salah was not the lightning fast player he once was. So we should cash in on Diaz if we cant sell Nunez.
