Hmm but how old is old?  😊

Every tyre has date code like 3622.

This means the tyre made was made in week 36 year 2022 and not chest 36 and waste 22 as we all like.

Michelle Lim the restaurant company says

https://www.michelin.com.sg/auto/advice/change-tyres/how-long-do-tyres-last

After 5 years of use, have them checked by a professional at least once a year. This will ensure that they have not been damaged prematurely and that they do not endanger you or your passengers.

But SG is hot and rubbers harden so many 4 - 5 year?

Because of COE if you change every 4 years then when you scrap the car your tyres will only be 2 years old. So I changed them every 3.3 years before I scrapped my car.

For batteries some people change them every 3 years and heart pain scrapping a 1 year old battery so I change batteries every 2.5 years.

Accident with old rubber? Must be Tourador, Wanli, Kin Forest, Golden Coin  or Ling Long.   🙊

I can see majority of the cars on the road have a Tourador sticker on their back windscreen! 😁 Looks awful! HAHA

When I took over my used car in Jan, the tyres on it are 3 years old (all DOM within Q1 2021). No idea when they were installed though. Tread depths were at 5mm front/4mm rear according to AAS inspection. Since then I have added 6000km to them, including a road trip to KL. Michelin PS4 if that matters.

Oh that's a relief! Ok, we will just see how it goes then!

I just see a lot of other KIA K3. I guess higher spec with their stock 17" rims so... I thought to follow the same.

17" one is SX model.

Your ride left how many years? [my guess is reg 2017-2018 batch]

If want up 17", consider the number of yrs in your COE left. Else just change out the ES32.

If staying on 16", take the Yoko AE51. 😀

Hi folks. Is it too early to replace my 2 year old tyre? This was from the previous owner of my car that was fitted with a Yokohama BluEarth-Es ES3. It kinda still look OK and have grip even in wet road but it is still a 2yr old tyre so kinda bugs me.

Any thoughts if I need to replace it soon? I'n considering in moving up to 17" rims also if I'm going to replace.

2 years old is still very new la. From the manufacturer date.

The tyre come out from.factory need a few months to cooldown.

Shipping to supplier  then to retail shop. Then install onto your cars.

Most of the time the tyres install on your cars at least 6mth to 1 years old depending on size. ( some can even be 2 years old)

Mean that tyres install on your car maybe drive 1 year +- only. And if the thread if still deep , why would u change it.

Unless your backside itchy.  That is another issue😂

yes, that's right this is a Dec 2017 model 😊 So, if I still have 3 yrs + , worth it?

Yokohama seems to be a very good tyres so yah, will consider it.

Go for this at your next tyre change, perhaps nexr year.

Bites the road like super glue and cuts through water like a razor blade, and yet $20 cheaper than Michelin Pilot Sport 4

Look at the wet and dry grip rating. No horse run! Under rated tyre.

I am on the discontinued lower end Continental Premium Contact 6 and the grip was already superb to begin with.

Look at the ultra thick outer part of the tyre (see left side). Can take fast corners with confidence.

@mcspiky I changed mine in less than 2 yrs, not because its severely worn. But if you feel like you need to change it, just do it.. no reasons needed

Yah, I see 2022 on the tyre itself.

That is still consider new, if the thread is still ok, no need to replace for now.

But if you have the desire to change rims and if that will make you happier, just bring forward the happiness, it is not a huge sum of money.
