Whatsapp backup now considered part of 15gb Google One storage

WA backup on Android will be considered part of 15gb Google One storage. Think starting this month for me.

Anyone going to sign up 100gb Google One? 

WA backup afterall sure have both chats and our commonly shared family videos etc.

I think it form part of my drive (15gb also) for a long time already. Never really take notice because I usually delete unwanted videos. 

Family videos and photos now go to telegram.

I think just added, my Google drive suddenly shoot to 20gb (whatsapp about 6.5gb ), lucky I already signed up for the 100gb storage.

It's quite an effort to clean up.

15gb. Currently my WA backup is 9gb + 5gb gmail.

Need to clear up my gmail of files with big attachments. Then clear my local WA of unwanted videos/photos etc. Save to a local drive for storage. 

Then when i delete off the WA backup, then it can backup a smaller WA backup version.

Yeah... I think i might just fork out sgd28/yr for the 100gb...

Just checked my google drive, only 200 over mb used up out of 17gb. So I don't know how much storage Whatsapp is using coz couldn't find any folders resembling Whatsapp.

Also don't know why I have 17gb instead of the usual 15gb.

My logic is that if it's 100gb. Eventually slowly over time it will balloon up to that amount. And then have to do it again. LOL. 

Its their evil plan to monetise us.

Should be very slow for me because I don't back up wa videos and photos. 

My evil plan is to become their shareholder!!! 🤣🤣🤣

My thoughts too. I had to delete quite a few videos but realise it's futile. It's not just the 100gb, they could very easily start cross-payments or put restrictions on other things once you start paying. My plan of preventing money flow to Google/Meta and the likes is under serious threat.
