LTA seeks ideas to remove burnt electric buses from multi-storey bus depots

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/lta-seeks-ideas-to-remove-burnt-electric-buses-from-multi-storey-bus-depots

LTA  is looking for ways to quickly remove a burnt one from a multi-storey depot and submerge it into a water tank to prevent a fire from reigniting.

.....Lithium-ion, which is the most prevalent battery technology used to power electric vehicles (EVs), burns at around 2,760 deg C – hot enough to melt steel and concrete.....

Let it burn, convert heat energy to charge other buses. Then take a dyson and clean it up afterwards.

“Even when the e-bus fire is extinguished, there remains a possibility of reignition, which could be a result of sparks created by parts of the burnt bus being in contact with the ground or depot structures during the removal process,” the LTA said on its Land Transport Innovation Portal, describing the challenge.

Aiya, ask SCDF to shit shift the bus for them la

The concern is the  high burning temperature may cause  damage to a building or even cause it to collapse.

Why is model Y battery so much cheaper than a model 3? I know it's older but got so much difference?

errrr......they already knew long ago that they will have electric buses in their fleet. but they proceeded with the multi storey depot build without a safety plan in place or at least start the process??? Now then ask for ideas when the depot structures are built and unlikely to be able to change?

hmmmmm.......like that also can.

SG can don't have multi storey meh. Lol no luxury of not having multi storey.

Most of Tesla 3 & Y built outside of USA could be using CATL battery

Private EV is not a concrern because their batteries are smaller ? Why would only bus have this problem ?

My suggestion is to build a fire station near a bus depot. Multi storey depot and battery fire where it can melt concrete doesn't sound very promising leh.

Got la.

I seen some similar towing on video before.

Just need some customise.

Can picture a tow truck pulling a low level floor lift. That got 4 extension on 4 corner. Push in under the bus. The extension come out and lift up. And the tow truck immediately pull to a safe area. With training can be done very fast.

Lithium ion battery fire comes very fast and spontaneous. Even like 30secs the fire can easily spread to neighbouring buses unless they are parked far away from one another. But this doesn't work for depot.

The same exact problem will apply to private ev in mscp. This is why I don't agree on the current ev technology to be rolled out to the masses.
